What is your first name?

Matthew, which I understand in some recent years was the most popular name in the U.S., but I have never cared for it. It always struck me as kind of a weak name.:sigh:

This once included someone who later became an internet friend... thought I was a guy for weeks. :lmao:

Partially the reason i'm trying to shake the habit of calling people "mate" online and in RL. While it is not gender specific, women seem to take offense. You wouldn't believe the times i heard or read the line, "You known I'm a girl, right?" Then followed by a verbal or written murder. :brickwall:

Ahahaha, I know, women are so sensitive.

I'm not, really, though. I usually laugh when there's a mixup like this and I'm more often than not called "dude", 'cause I pretty much act like one [which makes one question my boyfriend...]

:guffaw:

I should also mention that this friend was male. Very amused when he just suddenly went, "you're a guy, right?"

I'm Isaac. Although most of my friends call me Iz. Only close friends really (and people online due to my choice of username ;)).

Ok, that's it. Now I just have to ask. I cant stand it anymore.

Whats with the drug trip avatars? Seriously. Skies, rainbows and unicorns? Is everyone stuck in 70's mode?

They're Ponies! Yay! :D
You can find out more about them HERE!

Paul. But my parents and my sister are the only ones who call me that. Everyone else calls me Oz.

A nickname that i will accept is Al, although there are only 2 people that can get away with calling me Al, since i've known them forever and they have earned the right to call me that.

^ It's like how my niece can call me "Uncle Johnnyboy" and I am perfectly fine with it. It was her own creation, and coming from such a sweet, innocent little girl, how could I possibly turn that moniker away?

After all, I'm only an ogre when she's not allowed to play with her drumset.

Martin but I prefer to be called Marty. I usually only hear Martin when I'm in trouble.

Judi. I was called Jude from junior high through college, though.

To all the "Daves" here- are you "Proper Dave" or "Other Dave"? (Hey, who turned out the lights?) :p

Mark...

there were 4 "Marks" in my elementary class.. I ended up as Marcus for my entire tenure there, then moved to where there were no other Marks...

Dear Wife refers to me as "Marky" as it's hard for Portuguese speakers to end names on a consonant..

Lance.

I can sympathize with the people who are mistakenly called by longer versions of their names - I've been called "Lancelot" my whole life, but my birth certificate just says "Lance". (It probably doesn't help that my middle name is Arthur... my parents have a lot to answer for.)

As for multiDave situations, a few years ago, in the department I work in at Polaris, we had three Daves, two Michaels, a Chris/Kris pair (plus a third person whose name is Chris but didn't go by that name), and an Aaron/Erin pair. We usually referred to people by what panel track they were in charge of (so we had Anime Dave, British Dave - who's actually one of the few Americans on our committee - and Gaming Dave).

I think that was the year we conceived of a panel at our scheduling meeting called "The Dave Panel", and put every Dave on our committee on it as a panelist (in all, I think there were nine Daves on the whole committee).

I’m Scot. That’s Scot with a single “t.” It wasn’t my idea, but I’ve always kind of liked it. It distinguishes me from all the other Scotts.

Nobody’s called me “Scotty” since I was fifteen.

My first name is Edward. I will answer to Edward. I will answer to Ed. Hell, I even answer to Ven.

I will never, ever answer to Eddie.
So I suppose “Eddie-baby” is out of the question, then?

Do you mind if I call you “Pussycat”?

“René” is a common male name in my country of origin (the Philippines). From what I've heard, this is also the case in France, Spain, and Latin American countries, as in René Auberjonois, René Angelil, etc. The female version of my name in the U.S. is usually spelled “Reneé” with an extra “e,” but people automatically make the assumption that I'm a Ms or Mrs.
In French, the feminine form is correctly spelled “Renée,” with the accent on the penultimate “e.”

As for Rene Russo, the silly bitch doesn’t know how to spell her own name.

Daniel. Although its spelled Dániel, with an apostrophe.
That’s an acute accent, actually.

. . . I had a similar experience. Within my circle of acquaintances we had at least five Daves: Doctor Dave, Skater Dave, Love Dave, Silver Dave, and Industrial Dave.
You must have known a lot of deejays and pimps!

Mairiee

Now, before you go on and overheat your brain trying to pronounce it, it's just Mary. Not something fancy like Mayree. Or Marie. It's Mary.

*headdesk*

That being said, no one but my mom calls me Mairiee. I'm Lilly or Honey to everyone else.

How does one extract Lilly and Honey from “Mairiee” without using a really large pair of pliers?
I knew a girl whose name was Magill, and she called herself Lil. But everyone knew her as Nancy.
