Weird uncredited roles

In some Trek films, uncredited characters have weird titles that don't belong, such as "NYU nurse" or "FBI agent".

So are these:

* Relics of the production company hiding what they're filming by giving roles code names, as they did with the movie titles?
* The day player/extra's real world job?
* A mistake on IMDb?
* Data from deleted scene screen graphics?

IMDB can be updated by anyone, but I recall Into Darkness having a credit for a meter maid and us wondering what that was all about. That said, there were lots of San Francisco scenes with cars so there very well could have been a meter maid among the crowds.

Maybe some of extras didn't know anything about Star Trek, and went off role descriptions from Central Casting (or equivalent) designed to avoid spoilers leaking out? Then they self submit to IMDB?
Yeah, deliberate fakes from the casting sheet, like how we all guessed Yeboah for Strange New Worlds was Uhura. FBI agent was probably Hollywoodese for Section 31 agent.

I checked on Memory Alpha, since I trust it more than IMDB, and quickly found mention that production documents and casting calls referred to the San Francisco scenes at the end of STID as being in New York. Extras in the crowd were told they were in Chelsea, and production artwork says Khan jumps onto the garbage hover-truck as Highline Park, which points to them being decoy names for production documentation to prevent leaks and hide which movie was being hired for.

I tried cross-checking the weird character descriptions between IMDB and MA. There was no hit for "NYU Doctor" in STID, and the "Meter Maid" in MA is only specified as being a stunt role with no other information.

In Star Trek Beyond, Chuka Ekweogwu's "FBI Agent" is listed as "USSE Crew" on MA, but the page for unnamed Kelvin Timeline Starfleet people doesn't mention them, so that could be a typo. Adnan Kusybi and Arzu Neuwirth are also credited as "FBI Agent," but they aren't mentioned on the MA page for the movie at all.

That's not impossible. Unless a bit player expressly says they weren't in the film, it's always possible they were in a huge crowd scene, a deleted scene/scene segment that isn't part of bonus features, appearing with their face not visible, etc.
