What is THE Worst continuity error in Trek history..?!

Not a continuity error but what is a supposedly advanced and enlightened 23rd century Earth having a 17 year old in combat! In RL UK you have to be 18. (I am assuming other Federation species have their own rules as well).

What do you do if you're an Ocampa?!?

The Ocampa are probably extinct by now, since each woman could only have one child in her lifetime, IIRC.

A 17-year-old can join the US navy with parental consent.
I'm not sure about the rules on actual combat duty.

Kor
In the UK I think its 16 here but actual combat is 18. In less enlightened centuries it was probably 9 years - the young cabin boys of the navy.

In Canada you can enlist in the military and be deployed in combat at 16, and we're a nation stereotyped as pacifists.

Elogium. *shudder*

Kes said, "The elogium occurs only once. If I am ever going to have a child, it has to be now!" (emphasis mine)

She specifically said "a child" and not "children."

It does bring into question how exactly the Ocampa survive as a species. Only one birth cycle that creates only one child, seems the species should've died off quite fast. Considering a good portion of those offspring would need to be male in order to create new offspring.

Me thinks that the Ocampa weren't a very well thought out alien.

Me thinks several elements of VOY weren't thought out as well as they could have been.

Still does not discount the possibility of twins or triplets, even most pregnant human females, until told otherwise, assume their pregnancy (assuming its not IVF) will result in one baby, since this is the norm even tho its possible to have twins. triplets etc.

Just work it out:

- The Ocampa would die out if they could only have one child at a time.
- The Ocampa have not, in fact, died out.
- Therefore they must logically be able to have many children at once.
