What is the chance of one last hurrah for TNG?

I don't know if he's just lying because many directors/producers/actors seem to be reluctant to admit when their work sucks, but Stewart has always said he liked "Nemesis" and doesn't understand why the public rejected it.

He has admitted that he thinks he's too old to play Picard again, though, so his bizarrely positive opinion of "Nemesis" doesn't make him returning to the franchise seem more likely. :(

^ Well, you know, even though the broad consensus seems to be against Nemesis, that doesn't mean that dislike for it is universal. There are plenty of people who do like it and Stewart could just be one of them. Everyone has different tastes. Stewart is a fan of 'action hero Picard' from the movies too, even though fans seem to much prefer the more thoughtful Picard of the series.

It's also worth remembering that it's difficult, if not impossible, for someone involved in a film to see it the same way as the outside viewer does. Stewart is a lot more emotionally connected to a film like Nemesis than those of us who have given, at most, a few hours of our lives to watching and critiquing it.

Regarding the original topic of this thread, I agree with the fact that it is probably only wishful thinking that there would ever be another adventure for our TNG crew. Particularly with the box office success of the 2009 Trek film. But I would still love to see it, and I don't buy the argument that the actors are too old. Too old, perhaps, for big hand-to-hand combat action sequences, but those types of sequences are not the heart of Star Trek.

TNG nostalgia does seem to be growing at this point, so chances are perhaps better now than they were a few years ago. But as long as Abrams' version of Trek brings in the money, I doubt Paramount will consider revisiting any past Trek incarnations in anything but DVD releases and syndication packages.

Technically, we got our "last hurrah" with the TNG crowd in the future segment of "All Good Things..."

But a "last round-up" TV movie (or direct to DVD) featuring the casts of all the 24th century Trek shows would be a lot of fun.

Yeah, I was always under the impression that Stewart was very happy with Nemesis whereas people like Frakes and Burton were not.

I think a last hurrah 24th Century straight to DVD or as a TVspecial could happen. It would have to be on a tight budhet though. Realistically, if such a project were greenlighted I could see it using a blended cast and without any of the big hitters(specifically Stewart isn't gonna get the money he wants to be in it) Other actors like Frakes, Tim Russ, Garret Wang these guys would probably be in it but who is going to watch? It could happen but I doubt it, and if it did happen I doubt we'll like it.

Well, I'd really like to see an all out reunion. A mixture of people from TNG, DS9, and VOY somehow brought together on one ship, for one last "old school" hoorah. :)

My thoughts exactly that NG era select cast members from TNG, DS9 and VOY for a Magnificent Seven style last mission.:bolian:
This could really work, as long as it ties up some of the issues that need to be resolved.

Unlike TOS, which had a pretty good ending in TUC, VOY, which had an awful ending, and ENT, which had a mediocre one (in "Demons/Terra Prime" or "TATV"), TNG had a wonderful ending for the ages in "All Good Things." After that, the rest is merely gravy.

Yeah, TNG is done. The focus from here on out will be on the alternate JJverse.

However, as has been said, the novels are still pretty good...but much is changed with the TNG, VOY & DS9 crews being split, scattered and mixed up among the different series...or in some cases dead.

I loved Abrams Trek, and it made the previous TNG movies look like straight-to-DVD movies. As much as I would like to see the TNG crew again, I doubt they could keep up the new pace.

Stewie unlikely would do a straight-to-DVD movie, but I'd like to see Riker's Titan on DVD, at least.

Nor would I want to see them try to "keep up the pace." I don't mean that as an invitation to start a debate on the merits of Abrams Trek. The point is just that TNG was a very different kind of Star Trek, and trying to shoehorn it into the modern model would be a disaster. Even the TNG movies we got tried to depart from the format of the series, and it didn't work.

If we ever got another adventure from the TNG crew, they would need to do it in the TNG style, or no one would accept it.

Even though I watch the theatrical films VERY rarely, TNG ended with AGT for me. Abrams ST film blew all the TNG films out of the water, IMHO (DUCKS) and I'm a first run fan of ALL ST series. TNG is done.

TNG went out on the crest of a wave when it aired All Good Things.

Then, with the movies, it went out with a wimper thanks to the godawful Nemesis.

TNG deserved far better for its swansong.

Next year, 2012 Will be the 30th anniversary of TNG and the 10th anniversary of Nemesis. doesnt that make you feel old?

Things are gonna be very slow for the franchise if all we get is one new abramsvese movie every 3 years

it seems like so long ago that the last one came out already and everything Trek related seems to have pretty much died down.

I think it's probably a good thing that it's moving at a slow pace. We had Trek for so long from 1986 to 2005, sometimes with multiple series running at once. It was too much, general audiences got sick of it, and in all honesty, the shows and movies started sucking mightily themselves. Now we've had a good movie with the reboot film and I think they're playing it smart by not flooding the market with Trek again. As much as I want more, I want that "more" to be of high quality, not just garbage shat out by the studios like VOY and ENT and the TNG films were.

Actually, you're five years ahead of yourself. Next year will only be the 25th anniversary of TNG.

And yeah, it makes me feel old. I was 17 in 1987 and still remember watching the first showing of "Encounter at Farpoint" with my mom.
