How can you tell?Abosultely, yes. Some of season 2 and the first 6 episodes of season 3 get a little off track...
Here's my take on Lost. I started watching it when it was new and I watched the first season pretty faithfully. But, after that first season, I couldn't take it any more. They kept raising the suspense level and introducing new mysteries without ever revealing any satisfying answers. Every answer they gave was just another, even bigger, question. It became too annoying, so I quit watching. Based on the ratings, though, I'm apparently in the minority. I think the story is interesting, but I feel like the writers tried too hard to make people keep watching.
They've answered questions. But they always do it with other questions.
Q: Why was a polar bear on the island?
A: Because Dharma was studying them.
Q: Why was Dharma studying polar bears?
A: Apparently as subjects for their teleportation experiments.
Q: Whaa....?
A: No idea.

Exactly!
Someone finds a polar bear in the Sahara and never explains it.
