CoolEddie, I've been away for a couple days and can't remember whether I wished you a happy birthday, so just in case... Happy 40 years and 2 days!

40 years old, my friend. I hope you feel good about what lies ahead.

[hugs]

I'm 36. I find it interesting looking back at how polarising turning 30 was. It was very much a "New Caprica" moment. :)

Prior to that I was living in Auckland, doing the parties, doing the hard rat-race travel to work each day, living for myself, buying what I wanted.

Two days after I turned 30, my daughter was born. Since then I've had twin sons so a very full family, moved cities, money now focused on mortgage and kids bills, very much living in the 'burbs and finding life very tiring.

I'm very happy though. Gained a tad more weight round the middle but nothing I can't control (yet). Walk at least a kilometre a day, play with the kids when I can.

Do I miss pre-30? Yes, but I'd also miss my kids.

Mixed feelings, but yeah, I hope for the best and am going to rock my middle-aged years the best that I can. Life's an adventure and sometimes all you can do is just roll the top down, stick your face in the wind and ride. :)

That, and the inevitable prostate exams are going to be epic.

Happy belated birthday, CoolEddie!

I've been 25 for almost 22 years now. At least that's the age I am in the back of my mind.

Things didn't start falling apart till I was 43 or 44. Then the thinning hair and bifocals and hypertension showed up. But that's OK because I have plenty of stuff to make me feel like a kid again from time to time! :)

I'm turning 32 at the end of December.

For me, 31 was about coming to appreciate Avocados. I went from eating them only in sushi rolls, to eating one a day, all on its own.

Getting older can suck, fitness works wonders though, I'm going to be 41 soon enough but I benchpress and squat greater weights than most 20 or 30 years old at the gym harr harr harr..

Booze, yup you're gonna notice that yer not 20 anymore, forget recovering quick, same with (sports)injuries not healing as fast as it used to be.

Hair.. eh well its gone, that can be a bad thing, on the upside I'm not turning grey ever ha ha ha! :mallory:

In my case, getting older means stopping to give a fuck about things that stress younger people out, deadlines? yeah yeah whaterever, money? blah blah, been poor long enough now not to care, doom and gloom while things go boom? meh, can't be bothered.

Back to booze, discovered single malts, high end rums and other distilled stuff, that's a good thing, also obtained air still and stuff to make homemande cider which can be freeze distilled into applejack.. hmmm..

Music! broader, louder MORE METAL!

Eye sight, meh, okay that isn't as good as back when I was 20 and I have to read the paper without glasses...

Kids, well yeah some are annoying enough you'd wish to plow them under with a tank but I have to say that quite a lot of those so called young adults in my place are bright, intelligent nice and have a sense of humour.

Women, I'm 40 so I can have two aged 20, yep dirty old man. ;)

All in all, as long you take good care of yourself aging isn't totally bad but you'll have to work on yer health.

Well, I'll be 45 in April, and haven't had one yet. I hope that's of some small comfort to you.:bolian:

With my family's track record when it comes to health problems? I doubt I'll manage to avoid one for a whole five years, but it's nice to know some of us have done so. Congrats. ;)
