"What If...?"

What if... Data discovered he really wasn't alone in the universe after finding out about the colony of androids from "I, Mudd"?

I wouldn't say those androids mean he's not alone: they hardly seemed to have had positronic brains or - in my view - be really sapient beings..at least not individually.

I got one.

What if it was the Enterprise that that the sphere uploaded to, and Pike and Spock had to take it to the future...instead of the Discovery with Saru and Burnham?

Well, Trekbbs would certainly be different. You think people complain about continuity issues caused by the first two seasons now...

What if ...

Star Trek had been created by one of its fictional alien species rather than humans? How would humanity have looked, in, say, a Cardassian or a Romulan Star Trek?

In a Klingon one? A whole species of Archers, but even more pretentious and incompetent than regular Archer.

What if Khan & his crew had to deal with Kruge, the Whale Probe, Sybok and Chang?

What if it was Captain Harriman that was trapped in the Nexus instead of Kirk?

What if Ziyal did not die?

What if Lore’s plan to destroy the Federation worked?

What if Voyager was able to stabilise the Omega molecules for longer than 3.2 seconds?

What if mobile emitters existed during TNG & DS9?

What if Voyager was around for the Dominion War?

What if the Voyager main characters and supporting characters were as developed as those on TNG & DS9, instead of adopting the big 3 formula?

What if the Xindi arc did not exist? What would have taken its place?

What if TNG, DS9, and Voyager had an animated version of their live action show in the late ‘99s/early '00s?

Those Myriad Universe books were bloody great. I especially liked The Tears of Eridanus for different the universe was and how focused it was on the crew of the Kumari.
I've wondered about a few ideas but one big one I had was, what if there was no Third World War, and Earth was not united, but warp drive was still created and mankind ventured out into the stars as independent states?

What if another species did first contact with the humans when the Pheonix first broke the warp barrier say it was an Andorian ship or even Ferangi ho would earth or the federation have evolved.

Oh my god I love alternate first contacts! Both in Trek and mass effect! Seriously I could be here all day just thinking about the outcomes!

That's a great concept. This is slightly off on a tangent from that but in a Klingon opera where the Federation could be the antagonists or outright villains, what would that look like? If Klingons are pseudo-Vikings, could someone write a take on a Viking legend but put Klingons fighting the Federation instead?

Earth's first contact is with the Andorians in Tears of Eridanus and interestingly it comes about because the Andorians run into S.S. Valiant out in space. https://lessaccurategrandmother.blo...s-of-eridanus-draft-timeline-annotations.html

^Given some statements in unification, I would think the stereotype floating round among Klingon warriors that never actually combatted (or worked together with) Starfleet would be that the Federation is spoiled, effeminate, perhaps. Romulan propaganda apparently propagates the idea that Starfleet is weak and foolish (Face of the Enemy).

What if Worf and Troi had outright gotten together and then she had also joined the cast/crew of Deep Space Nine in seasons 4-7?

What if Khan & his crew had to deal with Kruge, the Whale Probe, Sybok and Chang?

That depends... would Khan and his crew be part of UFP/SF or not?

If not, I don't think that Khan and his crew would have wanted to deal with the Whale Probe. They seemingly had little interest in Earth itself, therefore, they'd probably just take the BoP and left for parts unknown.
As for Sybok... well, due to augments more aggressive tendencies, they'd probably have little trouble in maintaining control of their ship in regards to Sybok... so, they wouldn't have even reached the point where the ship would go to the center of the galaxy.
And in regards to Chang... well, given that explosion of Praxis would have happened either way, then its possible

What if it was Captain Harriman that was trapped in the Nexus instead of Kirk?

He probably wouldn't have been liberated until a Tuesday in late 24th century or just forgotten all together.

What if Ziyal did not die?

Would probably continue to be Garak's romantic interest that would continue to be a thorn in Dukat's eye.

What if Lore’s plan to destroy the Federation worked?

I don't think he had much of a chance in succeeding on that front.
He would have incurred some damage yes, but, it would probably be on a smaller scale until he encountered a whole fleet of ships down the line.
Plus,

What if Voyager was able to stabilise the Omega molecules for longer than 3.2 seconds?

Voyager had no issues in stabilizing Omega actually. The Harmonic resonance chamber was doing the job on its own just fine for quite some time... the remaining Omega molecules stabilized by themselves 'spontaneously' near the end of the episode for 3.2 seconds before Janeway ordered the molecules dumped and destroyed with a modified torpedo - otherwise, the stabilization effect would have probably lasted well beyond this pont.

The seemingly random stabilization of Omega was probably attributed by the fact that nearly 30% of the molecules were stabilized by the Harmonic resonance chamber.

Its possible the molecules at large exist in a state of equilibrium of sorts. An external force was modifying them into
a specific state of stabilization (as defined by humanoids).
Its also possible that a third of (artificially) stabilized molecules ended up prompting the rest to align with that new state.

Seven already informed Janeway that she can control Omega... Janeway acknowledged it and ended up carrying out the Omega directive anyway (to destroy the molecule - which I think was short sighted).
If the Omega molecule could be guaranteed to maintain its stabilized state indefinitely, then it posed no danger... and because the molecules would have been neutralized eventually anyway... she probably could have returned it to the species which created it, apologized for the incident and explain why she did what she did (they did seem intent on getting it back for the most part and would have likely overlooked Janeway's seeming act of thievery as long as they got the molecules back).

I think the situation could have been dealt with more tact... Chakotay could have said that they are trying to stabilize the molecules and taking them away from nearby populated planets where they wouldn't pose much of a threat if they did destabilize during the attempt.

What if mobile emitters existed during TNG & DS9?

You'd probably see a larger utilization of holograms in that case and Moriarty could have possibly become a contributing member of UFP as a whole.. but given that most of Trek occurs in space (aka, ships, stations, etc.), the need for mobile emitters wouldn't have been too huge if you already have holo emitters in those places.

Repair and upgrade crews would likely be more holographic in origin and programmed to do things super fast.

What if Voyager was around for the Dominion War?

Could have scienced the war into victory for the Federation. :D
Kidding.
I doubt that Voyager as a single ship could make such a huge difference, unless the crew was assigned a specific mission that ended up being of crucial importance to the Federation.
Most other ships in the fleet probably did their part... it was just off-screen. So, except for Voyager being seen in the Dominion War, nothing much would have changed.

What if the Voyager main characters and supporting characters were as developed as those on TNG & DS9, instead of adopting the big 3 formula?

It would probably result in more rich background for the characters in question... with more stories that center around them instead.

What if the Xindi arc did not exist? What would have taken its place?

The foreshadowing of the UFP probably and humanity taking a more active role in interstellar diplomacy which could prompt the Romulans to kick off their campaign against Eart that much sooner.

What if TNG, DS9, and Voyager had an animated version of their live action show in the late ‘99s/early '00s?

We'd probably see more liberties with science and technology being used in a different way... but the animated versions would be of pretty decent quality.

What if Voyager had obeyed Janeway's orders and continued on its merry way in "Resolutions"? Feel free to give answers for both Janeway and Chakotay, and the rest of the crew.

What if Harry had actually used his brains in "Non Sequitur" and chosen a life of great sex, rapid promotion, and living on Earth over seven years of ensignhood and high-pitched sonic showers in the Delta Quadrant?

What if Janeway had accepted Q's proposal (or proposition anyway) in "The Q and the Gray"?

What if Tom had parked the W10 shuttlecraft with him and Janeway on it somewhere in Andromeda, instead of a convenient three-day flight from Voyager?

Voyager would have been doomed, as the crew would depise Tuvok, all that, and Tuvok wouldn't have had the support to overcome Seska and the Kazon.

Harry would go crazy, about leaving behind his friends, all that, and got drummed out of Starfleet after being rejected for a promotion.

A Q that goes around killing products of a transporter accident...?

A Captain Chakotay?

Harry generally got promoted just fine when he wasn't under Janeway's command. Which was quite an accomplishment with seven years as an ensign staining his service record.

Shush! That was in an alternate timeline. It never happened!!! He's still an ensign, damn it!
