What If: Captain Riker of the USS Voyager

This is somewhat of a fan favorite Star Trek "what if", stemming from a mention by Q of Riker as a possibility in the series, and some fans' assertion that Riker would have been better than Janeway. (Apologies)

What if Riker had accepted a promotion to the captaincy and been placed in command of the USS Voyager?

What if, in the universe of Star Trek, William T Riker rather than Janeway was made Captain of Voyager. It's an alternate history. Think "Parallels". What would be different, what would result from that change, etc.

If Riker was locked up in Voyager maybe the movies would have got a new younger Riker type to pick up the missing pigeon hole?

Also would Q have desired to make a baby with Will?

If Riker was captain of Voyager, he would have been nailing B'Elanna, not to mention Seska, and Kes, and Seven, and Samantha Wildman, and every other babe to cross their path.

Paris and Chakotay and Neelix would have just been out of luck.

Harry would have continued on as usual.

I just had the realization that this would leave Thomas Riker as the only Riker in the Alpha Quadrant. Time to shine, Tommy.

If Will Riker were commanding Voyager, casting decisions for the series itself would have been different. If Janeway had been male, the first officer character would have been cast as female. So the permutations go a lot deeper than just swapping one character.

Okay I'll take Q in the bath with Riker, if that saves Deanna from such future hell. Even though I can think of many more folk I would rather see Q in the bath with, NuKirk comes to mind after all he was experimental with the lovely cat ladies plural. I bet his curiosity would be all perked up, super being offering super alien sex. Poor NuKirk, the reality!

Q to Riker: Is that your trombone or are you just..

Riker: My trombone? I don't keep my trombone in the bath.

Tom Riker was a member of the Maquis already.

1. Both of the serving on the ship as Captain and first officer. And they parent trap it, wearing each other uniforms from time to time for a laugh.

2. One of them is murdered by the big bad, who the surviving Riker decides to Hunt across the galaxy first before plotting a course home.

3. They get Tuvixed instead of Neelix and Tuvok, and no one cares. Well maybe they care, but then they can really argue if they are distinct people yet because of the last decade plus being separated.

4. Deanna starts cheating on Will with Tom, and then there's a huge argument about who the father of her unborn child is.

5.The Riker Brothers and the DeLaney Sisters have a monthly Clones vs twins Parrises squares Grudge Match.

Then for the Grudge Match, the Riker brothers turn into the Janeway twins vs the Delaney sisters.

We'll just grab one of those double Janeways we saw, doesn't matter which one.

I like this, we have replaced Riker with 2 Janeways.
