What games are you playing currently?

I'm generally not big on J-rpgs, but the first Ni No Kuni really struck a chord with me. It's the game in my avatar. Being co-developed with Studio Ghibli, it really sucked me into its world.

I started playing the first Ni No Kuni back in 2003 and I was really enjoying it. But then when I was about halfway through the game, my dad died... and since then I just haven't been able to go back to that game.

Yeah I've thought about playing that game many times over the years, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

Just got Live A Live and Diofeld Chronicles in the mail. Planning to get physical Stray when it's available.

I really liked the themes of Ni No Kuni but gave up on it after like 15 hours. The combat just didn't work for me because the AI controlled allies kept wasting all their MP and getting themselves killed which made it hard to have any kind of strategy.

Speaking of real life things in games, I'm kind of fascinated when a developer recreates a location that manages to evoke memories. They can be a great way of doing some virtual tourism depending on the level of detail put into them. I felt this way both with Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. With New Vegas in particular, I had played it not that long after a trip where I'd toured the Hoover Dam, and it was fairly accurate enough to evoke that kind of response.

A lot of people are saying that about Horizon Forbidden West with the LA ruins you find.

I loved all those racing games that recreated famous sights in familiar cities :D
My brother and I only got Driver back then so we could drive over the GGB for example ;)

Ohh, I hadn't even considered the Horizon series. There was a bit of that in Zero Dawn too. There's a bit of a nostalgia aspect to it too, when you recognize something that isn't quite as you remember it.

In Zero Dawn you go past a big Air Force chapel that I think is a famous landmark right now with a large pointy roof, you see the building as it is today as a vantage point.

Just got the Evercade handheld premium pack (device and three cartridges). Some real gems in there and a nice piece of affordable hardware. Will definitely get my $99 (US) out of it.

Mobile app RPG game called Andor's Trail...I like it cause it not finished yet and the developers update the game couple times a year...
