What games are you playing currently?

I liked AC3 more than most people (I liked the Haytham Kenway character), and I really loved Black Flag. Having said that, I absolutely HATED Unity. I got it right at launch along with my PS4, and I played a bit then quit. It was buggy as hell. They were trying to sell keys to certain chests through microtransactions. Left a very sour taste in my mouth. Later on, I heard they fixed all these things. So, I tried it again. Despite having an interesting setting and amazing graphics, the game is just bland and not fun. It almost stopped me from getting the far, FAR superior Syndicate at launch, but I'm glad I picked it up

Hmm, maybe I'll just keep moving forward to the Syndicate DLC, Origins, and Odyssey, rather than going back to Unity.
I loved Syndicate, the Victorian era is one of my favorite time periods, and the characters and story were really good.

I thought AC3 was ok. I also liked Haytham, but his song was boring as hell. I absolutely loved Black Flag, I had so much fun playing that game. And yeah, Unity was a mess and I really enjoyed Syndicate. I liked the characters (especially Evie) and the gameplay was fun as well.

I have to admit, I'm also not feeling Odyssey. I've had it since launch and while I've played it for like 20 hours overall, I'm not just not into it. I think it's been like two months since I've played it.

I still haven't tried Odyssey, although I loved Origins. My game backlog is really starting to pile up since I finished Spider-Man and Red Dead Redemption II. For some reason, I can't get into any games lately. Admittedly, I had the same problem after I finished The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. I may try picking Days Gone back up tonight or tomorrow

RE: Assassin's Creed games. For some reason, I've never been able to get that into them. I played though a fair bit of AC2, but for some reason stopped and didn't come back to it until years later and by that point, I just couldn't get back into it. I know AC4 is universally lauded and I'll probably check it out at some point, but the prospect of going through 2 again then 3 first is decidedly unappealing.
Not sure why it didn't gel for me. Perhaps the gameplay started to feel too shallow and repetitive, the pace of the story too slow for me to even remember what they hell I was supposed to be doing and why. That combined with the snowstorm of side quests, collectables and whatnot left me with the impression that I was running on the spot and not really getting anywhere.

They wrap up Desmond's storyline in AC3, so you don't technically need to play the first three, Brotherhood and Revelations to understand what's going on in Black Flag and Syndicate (the two I had the most fun playing).

It actually took me forever to get into the AC series. I love history, so it should technically have been a shoe-in, but after picking up the first game in a bargain bin, I felt the controls were terribly clunky and the gameplay very repetitive. It wasn't until the release of Black Flag that I returned to the series, which ignited a spark. So, after completing Black Flag, I retroactively went back to the first game, and as clunky as it was, Black Flag made me understand the gameplay systems more so that I could live with the flaws and enjoy it. I liked the storyline, but it's too bad the game was mired with weak and repetitive gameplay. Let's just say, I'll never mourn the loss of those checkpoint races.

AC2 was slightly better, but as much as it's been praised, I don't think it's aged terribly well, and I didn't enjoy it quite as much as I thought I would.

AC3 was actually quite a fascinating game for me, and I don't really get the initiate hate the game was receiving. I felt Connor was a misunderstood character who I felt had one of the most interesting nuanced stories in the franchise, plus the homestead missions were a lot of fun and worth doing. The exploration of the wilderness was a fun addition that made the game feel alive.

And anyone who likes Black Flag should play Rogue, which was initially a last-gen exclusive for systems that wouldn't be getting Unity that ironically ended up getting more praise than Unity did. It's essentially the same formula and engine as Black Flag, but this time you play an Assassin turned Templar and is more or less a sequel to Black Flag with elements tying 3 with Black Flag, and sailing taking place in the North Altlantic. I kind of wish another game or at least DLC would take another look at playing a Templar.

Kind of why I dropped it and left it. It was fun but it felt like other AC games. Oddly the very first one is my favourite. It's not too long and you don't get bogged down in it.

I love that there are nice little easter eggs such as AC being in the same universe as Watch Dogs because there was a mission in that where Aiden Pearce (worst game character ever) took out someone from abstergo. It's one of the criminal convoy side missions.

Yeah, I think revamping the series into more of an RPG was one of the best things that happened to franchise. I know there are fans of the old formula and wish it had stayed the same, but I think it was personally a good idea to take a break and just revamp it. The RPG aspect allows more customization of the character and more exploration of the character in general

Watch Dogs is essentially AC in modern trappings. I personally haven't played any of them yet.

Picked up Far Cry 4, LA Noire and The Raven (Remastered) for the PS4 cheap to stave off boredom. Saving the Raven (played the train chapter) for my Mum's next visit as it may be the one game she would be interested in helping with, being a mystery. Haven't opened LA Noire yet but FC4 is now wearing thin. I wanna take gyrocopter lessons IRL now though...

I decided to go back to LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 earlier today. I had kind of burned out before, but the break helped to get me back in the mood for it.

Planetside 2. I played it when it was in Beta but wasn't overly enthused. Now, I've started from scratch and feel like a big kid.

I'm actually finally closing in on the end of The Witcher III, I just fought Imlerith and now I'm taking a break from the main story to finish up some of the side quests I'm at a high enough level to do. At this point I've decided to skip exploring the ? points on the map, unless I absolutely need to in order to level up. There are just way to many of them, I could probably spend months just going to all of them, and I really want to just finish the game at this point. So from this point on I'm just doing the main and side quests, and the contracts.

Only three games really interest me right now. Destiny 2, Apex Legends, and Astroneer. I'm a pretty competitive person, so I really like the shooty PvP aspect of Apex and Destiny, but Astroneer is my downtime sit and chill game.
