Sony to end physical disc production in January 2028

I wonder if it would be possible for Microsoft to purchase a manufacturer of physical media. Then they could say they're really doing it.

They could but it would be a little cynical I think because it would last only a few years and then they'd be doing the thing everyone else has done.

I just wish this decision had gotten a lot more backlash in the marketplace than what happened, they only listen to numbers

It's like sports, people state that sports and sporting events are too expensive..but they still tune in, they still go to games....no matter what happens, people will still buy, sorry RENT , video games...it's ingrained in culture now...

Maybe, but Xbox has been struggling with relevance these last few years. I think they're finally starting to make some good decisions again, as hard as some of them might be, and making a move like this would both be sticking it to Sony and bringing them back good will for the players, even if it extends it for a few more years and given the controversy surrounding the ceasing of disc, it could become something that is long remembered.
