What games are you playing currently?

Went back to Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection. I also rooted and installed Bazzite Linux on my ROG Ally, and it runs really well.

I need to know this how does the ROG Ally compare to something like the Legion Go or the Steam Deck, the latter seems really nice since you can't just buy one in a regular store.

Nice machine, can handle most games in medium or high settings. It came with Windows 11, but that sucks as Microsoft didn't adapt it well for handhelds. Bazzite Linux is, although configuration can be a bit fiddly if you're not used to Linux.

If the Steam Deck was available in more places where you could physically buy one that would be an instant sale for me but it's not

just beat the main story campaign for Saint's Row Remake. whole game was pretty good but the main plot felt kind of short while some sidequest took the most time etc.

If you buy the Legion or the Ally installing Bazzite on it will give you pretty much the same experience as the Deck. I'd avoid the MSI Claw as that seems to have a lot of issues.

Assassins Creed Mirage (XBOX-X)
I thought going back to a Creed 1 like environment might bring me back into the franchise but i'm struggling a little so far. The Parkour seems less responsive than before and the story/main character is dull so far. I also tried playing it on 4K, which of course locks it to 30 FPS and I found it unplayable so went back to the 60 FPS.

Haven't played it, but it does sound to me like they might have used older code from when the parkour was clunkier rather than using the more modern and smoother parkour from the newer games, which I find to be odd. Like, when people were asking for an old-style AC game, I don't think they meant to say they wanted the warts and all the annoying things about them. The first two AC games had terribly unresponsive controls which made navigating such a chore. Like, I can't understand why they couldn't make a classic-style AC game using modern improvements to make something that's the best of both worlds.

a couple of games I'm busy with playing digitally for my Playstation 4

Final Fantasy IV Pixel
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered
Street Fighter 6
Sleeping Dogs
Resident Evil Village

then getting back into/replaying the beginning of Batman Arkham Origins for my Playstation 3

After watching some vids I remapped some controls as whoever mapped the default Mirage controls was clearly drunk. It's helped a little with the parkour.

I've just picked up several cheap games on GOG a few days ago. Among one of them, Down in Bermuda. Heads up, @Gingerbread Demon this might be up your alley. It's a super chill puzzle game with a cute graphics style. Your character, a WWII pilot essentially crashlands in Bermuda. The game has you solving islands full of puzzles. While each island shares in the game mechanics, each of the islands has their own them and unique puzzles to them. I've been really enjoying this one as a change of pace.

I think I have that one. I just haven't got around playing it yet

Back to World of Warcraft. The War Within comes out in less than two weeks and the lead up has been fun so far

I was a very heavy gamer, from my early childhood to around ten years ago. Then, for no single reason, I just lost interest in the current generation of it all. I can't afford to buy any of the latest systems, and a lot of the titles I see advertised seem to be about the spectacle more than anything else. By comparison, a lot of older games kept things fairly simple, enabling things like independent exploration instead of spelling everything out. I still remember when Super Metroid first came out - I was 13, and it took me over a year to beat it. To this day, I still haven't gained a 100% item collection score, though.

Been playing some stuff via my 3ds lately, since my joycons are in for repair/replacement.

Pokemon Crystal and Pokemon Platinum

It's true. With a lot of older games there was a lot less handholding and you had to find the way yourself, which was a good thing. It taught me patience.
Patience is one thing, but the original Metroid drove me insane. No maps, no save rooms, and completely random alphanumeric passwords you had to physically write down whenever you died?! Thank God the future entries changed that crap...
