What games are you playing currently?

I've been thinking of getting back to Morrowind myself, but not sure if my CDs would still work. Might have to end up buying the whole thing again. If anything, I wish they'd work on a remaster of this for consoles instead of the Skyrim remaster. It would have more sense and purpose as I'm sure there are many people who'd love to get a crack at Morrowind that didn't when it first came out, and Morrowind could use a little love.

I didn't know about this remastering of Skyrim until you mentioned it. Now I'm wondering if I should just stop playing the game I started and wait until next month to pick that up on X1. At first I was thinking it was a pointless/too soon (5 years?) remaster and wasn't going to buy it but from what I understand it's going to have mods. That's the one thing I've always been envious of Elder Scrolls PC players, but not envious enough to buy a computer capable of supporting it.

Yeah, I think that's the main reason for the Remaster, I think, to bring it in line with Fallout 4 and its availability for mods. But from a PC standpoint, the remaster itself doesn't make much sense as you already have mods that make it look just as good, if not better, than the remaster. It's a bit like the recent Bioshock remaster, where I think the improvements are negligible. I do feel remaking it this soon is rather pointless either way though. But given how much it sold, I think for them it's a given.

I've seen Pete Hines' comments in reference to a Morrowind remaster, in which he says no to it due to its age. I understand where he's coming from in the sense that it would be a big job with a big team, but in this case, contract it out possibly, if they don't want to do it themselves. Its age is exactly the reason why it should be remastered. And if the dialogue system is a problem like he says, then it's the perfect reason to implement a newer modern dialogue system into it. A remaster doesn't always have to be like the original as long as it captures the atmosphere, but with more modern UI, especially in the case of an RPG like Morrowind, which was often considered clunky.

"To take Morrowind and then to completely rebuild it? It was an Xbox game. To completely rebuild it have it be relevant for today? That's a pretty massive team doing a massive amount of work," he explained. "You go back and look at it. Do you remember the dialogue system in Morrowind? Do you remember what it was like talking to someone and scrolling through this long list of questions. You put that out for someone that just finished Skyrim and they're going to be like 'What in the hell...?'"

Speaking of The Elder Scrolls, have any of you played Elder Scrolls Online? I didn't bother with it at first because I've never been into MMORPG games and when it first came out I heard bad things. But I've heard they made improvements and I've been thinking about picking it up.

No, I haven't. I've been curious about it, but not enough to want to subscribe. I typically don't touch MMOs until they go F2P as I don't want to put myself into a situation where I need to keep paying in order to play.

I had heard it would, but didn't realize it did so yet. Might check it out then. So maybe if you need a playing partner, give me a heads up :)

I guess I'm mostly curious about locations in the game that have previously been in the games, ie how different are the interpretations of it.

If I do get it I'll give you a shout. I notice the bare bones edition is only about $10 on Amazon right now, but it doesn't come with any of the DLC. The version with the DLC is full game price. I'm going to do a little investigating and see if the DLC is worth it, or if I'd be better off buying the cheap version and the DLC separately, etc, before I pull the trigger. Not to mention watch some gameplay videos or whatever to see if it looks like something I even want to play.

Played some Dragon Quest Builders Demo today along with some Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth. Might game a bit more tonight. Not sure what I'll play though.

Yeah, now that you mention it, one thing that felt off to me in learning details about the game was it was going to be 3rd person. Elder Scrolls games, the main ones anyway, have all been generally first person. So to me, it always felt odd that it was going to be 3rd person and not representative of the series. Don't know if they eventually added that in though.

Still playin' Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens on my xbox 360 this evenin'. I'm at 96.4% complete.

There was an update this morning, took about an hour. Looks like the first DLC level, "Poe's Quest for Survival", will be released soon. It added five achievements to the list to unlock, too.

I'm finishing up Dragon Quest IX so that I can start Dragon Quest VII soon. My unopened copy has been sitting on my kitchen table for a week and I haven't been able to play it.

I grew up on Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest but I haven't gotten to play all of them because not all were released in the States. I think we got I-IV on NES and then it jumped to VII on PS1. All of which I've played, but I haven't played any since VII. I think they ended up releasing some others on DS or something, but I never owned or wanted one of those. Because the series ended up getting so fragmented and usually not on any platform I owned I just sort of lost interest. Well I didn't lose interest, I still play I-IV on an emulator every once in a while because I loved them as a kid and like going back to them. Why are you waiting to play VII after IX, is it a prequel or something, the way III ended up taking place before I? Or do you just want to finish one game before starting the other? I still have my copy of VII but don't have a Playstation anymore. I don't know if I have any of the NES games anymore but I still have the DWIII booklet/walkthrough that came with it.

I've been playing a good deal of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, and its very fun. The only rythum game that I've played and enjoyed. Because I've been playing it, I decided to start on another of the Final Fantasy games I got off PSN (the few sales a year when the FF games go on sale are always great). I had to choose between the three I have that haven't played yet (V, VII and VIII) and I went with FF V. The job system seems like what Bravely Default was inspired by/based off of, and I enjoyed the gameplay of that game. I'm about an hour and a half into FFV, and I'm enjoying it. I'm fine with grinding in old JRPGS, so the only thing that might be an issue is that I could get obsessive about leveling up the jobs for every character

I've never played a Final Fantasy game but have always been interested. Unless you count Final Fantasy Legend (which I know a lot of people don't as I'm told it was an unrelated game given the FF name in North America to cash in on the popularity), which I had and enjoyed on Game Boy. I forget which one it was, either the second or third.

Picked up Lego Dimensions on sale at GameStop yesterday, and a few of the "fun packs" and one "level pack" during the clearance sale at Hasting's. Started to play the game this evening, already have three achievements unlocked; "Time to Break the Rules!" (rebuild the Lego Gateway), "There's No Place Like...This" (complete 'Follow the Lego Brick Road'), and "Home, Sweet Home" (visit any Hub World for the First Time). For that last one, I used Marty McFly to go to Hill Valley from Back to the Future.

Earlier today I decided I was going to try out this Gears Of War Ultimate Edition that came with my XBOX 1, it's been almost a year and I never played it. But I was getting bored during the installation so I decided to try out this Sherlock Holmes Crime And Punishments game I downloaded free from Games With Gold. Which I've had about 7 months but never played either, but I thought I'd just load it up and see what it was like while I was waiting. Long story short I spent a few hours playing it and totally forgot about the game I was installing.

I'm not a big Sherlock Holmes fan, I've never read any of the books or seen any of the movies. Unless you count Young Sherlock Holmes. That and the Moriarty episodes of TNG are the extent of my Holmes knowledge. But as I said, I ended up really enjoying it and playing for quite a while until I solved the first case. But I was a little disappointed with how the case ended. I'd gotten to the point where I'd investigated everything I could and exhausted all of my talking options but there was no clear suspect. All three suspects had been to the crime scene, only two really had any motive but the other without the motive was the one who seemingly had the skill to commit the crime. Though it wasn't unthinkable the other two could have. He seemed like the least likely suspect but I ended up accusing him just to see how the accuse/absolve mechanic works (I don't have any instructions and the game doesn't really explain it), and I ended up being right. But I have no idea why. You just set a trap for the guy who tries to escape but you knock him out. Lestrade takes him away and there's no reveal as to why he did it, no explanation for inaccuracies in the other suspects stories, stuff like that. It's just on to the next case. I only knew I got it right by looking in my casebook and hitting a button which reveals whether I was correct or not. After all that investigating and watching the story unfold some payoff would have been nice.

The Sherlock Holmes games from that particular developer tend to be hit & miss. They go back a long way and started off as rather low-budget releases, but have gotten considerably better starting with the last two games, with bigger budgets to show for it. That said, of the recent ones, I've only played the previous one, which was actually fairly good. It sounds like that one had a better format and cases than the newer one, which is a disappointment as I'd heard good things about it.

Well the second case was a little better, there was more of a payoff/solution at the end (I at least understood the motive this time), but coming up with the right solution was still kind of difficult. Once again there were multiple likely scenarios and not enough information given (at least as far as I could see) to decide which one was correct. Unless I was missing something it seemed like I just had to take a leap and pick one of two equally likely conclusions, I picked the wrong one and then went back and changed my deductions accordingly.

The wife and I are finally getting around to checking out the Far Harbor DLC for Fallout 4.
Turns out it's a really good piece of DLC. Nice change of pace in terms of atmosphere (season-appropriately spoopy), pretty large landmass with lots of content and some very welcome improvements to settlements.
