Spoilers What fanwankery will they pull for the finale?

Tribble of Doom: OM NOM NOM
Janeway (merrily munching on the Queen's 30-year-old discarded leg): "This is how I prefer the Borg: as a meal."
Reminds me of SF Debris and his Psych Janeway in Unimatrix Zero (I do laugh unreasonably so at his jokes):

Not really, in the scheme of things.

It's a Trek trope, we'll worn and in this season about as offensive as chips and dip at a Super Bowl party.

How many casualties? Honestly, I have no idea but it's not a small list. We're talking about the entire fleet. You can't just wave it off like that, shrug and say, "ah well, that's Star Trek." Well, you can but it like I said before, this is Starfleet: they would have lost so many old friends and colleagues.

So here's a thought, doesn't everyone usually complain about Disco being too emotional? "Everyone cries too much. These are supposed to be professional officers who should be expected to maintain a sense of decorum when on duty." Yet now we're seeing complaints along the lines of "thousands of people died and our heroes just shrug it off with jokes, smiles and a game of poker."

Guess someone will complain no matter what these shows do.

I'm one of the folks who says that DSC is too weepy, so I have no problem with how upbeat the ending of this season was. I am annoyed that they crammed any follow-up to the changeling infiltration into one line of dialog, but that's more because I want a (IMO) proper conclusion to the first 8 episodes of the show.

It's Star Trek at its Trekkiest; traumatic events are just another Thursday.

Exactly.

(It's funny that I might not accept this level of unreality from another series/franchise, but for Star Trek? It's on-brand, and I like it that way.)

Exactly, I can. It's Star Trek at its Trekkiest; traumatic events are just another Thursday.

Again, you didn't answer me. They're after killing every person over 25 years of age in Starfleet. The only ones who got out of it were on the Titan, and only a few of the older people survived there. We're talking thousands upon thousands of people dying from an organisation that they've devoted their entire lives to. Forget about Trekkiest of Trekkiest stuff. That's never happened before.

I didn't answer because there's no answer. They'll just move on.

They did not kill every person over 25. Some definitely escaped like 7 and her group. Get a grip.

To be brutal, star fleet probably doesn't need as many officers for awhile. The Romulans are in disarray and, long term, combine with Vulcans, though when is not clear. Likewise it's not likely the Cardassians have enough strength to be a threat to the UFP anymore, and again, long term they also join the UFP. They probably would have enough time to get new recruits ready, call in reserves until they do so. They lost a lot, but people are replaceable.

Filling in the gaps again.

This was the highest rated season of all new Trek and the highest Nielsens. You guys lost this round no one liked the somber depressing first two seasons. They gave us what true trek fans wanted. You'll just have to deal with that reality. Sorry.
