and here I have a first run Gold Key comic breathed upon by the Great Bird himself and stored in a reliquary, and perform Stations of the Brophy every week, but to no avail.Passing out applications again?

You still have season 1 and 2 to enjoy. Yeah they weren't nearly as popular as season 3 and the LA whatever couldn't hold a candle to the Enterprise D but again you can always go back and enjoy it..Passing out applications again?
You proceed from error. I was asking for an application for "True Fan"* status. You still have season 1 and 2 to enjoy. Yeah they weren't nearly as popular as season 3 and the LA whatever couldn't hold a candle to the Enterprise D but again you can always go back and enjoy it..
Q and the Enterprise G
This was the highest rated season of all new Trek and the highest Nielsens
This was the highest rated season of all new Trek and the highest Nielsens. You guys lost this round no one liked the somber depressing first two seasons. They gave us what true trek fans wanted. You'll just have to deal with that reality. Sorry.
And what does that have to do with the price of cheese? By that logic Avatar is the greatest movie of all time.
It means a lot. It means will get more trek like this and less of what we saw in STP season 1 and 2 and hopefully less of STD. So it's worth more than cheese.
Your statement had nothing to do with the discussion. No relevance at all. That's what the phrase "what does that have to do with the price of cheese?", was suggesting.
Yes it does. Season 3 was a absolute success 1 and 2 weren't.
Again, has nothing to do with what we were discussing.
Just letting you know.
Obviously, it was just exactly what you wanted. But this wasn't proper Trek for me. It was re-tread Trek. It was recycled stories dressed in leather. I would have liked a truly new story for my beloved characters, new adventures, not a mishmash of a bunch of stuff they had already done. I thought we might be getting that with the first episodes. I was truly excited. But it was sentimental nonsense for me at the end. Exactly what Patrick Stewart said he didn't want to do when the show was originally proposed to him.It means a lot. Well, I kind had a suspicion when Laris conveniently left the narrative never to be seen (or acknowledged as having existed) so Jean-Luc could go off and do stuff with the old gang. But I loved Worf and Raffi. And Seven and Shaw. The bunk beds. Thought the logical Vulcan criminal was fun. I don't mind a little sentimental nonsense if the story is fresh. I genuinely enjoyed some of the early episodes despite the dark palette, though I didn't go back and re-watch them.A voice of reason. Thank you. Only argument I'd have with your statement is that it was a really dumb premise from the very start, just not as dumb as it eventually became since I was hopeful that they might figure it out and it'd make a bit of sense at the end. (actually, I lied there: was fairly certain we were headed towards a disaster from the first few episodes) Apart from that, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Utter nonsense.

This is where I am at too. This is not going back to old school Trek but using nostalgia as a recipe for a greatest hits album. As nostalgia trips go it's fine. As a path forward it doesn't inspire any sort of confidence.Well, I kind had a suspicion when Laris conveniently left the narrative never to be seen (or acknowledged as having existed) so Jean-Luc could go off and do stuff with the old gang. What you see as basics I see as boring. Hopefully the new shows will meet somewhere in the middle so we'll both be happy. It put trek back on the right track. Yeah a lot of retread but a lot of Trek is like that. Sorry but season 1 and 2 were so bad they needed to get back to basics.
