What episodes do you most remember from watching Star Trek as a kid?

My first episode was "The Cloud Minders." I vividly remember seeing that as a boy. It made quite an impression!

My favorites to watch growing up were

"The Doomsday Machine"
"The Menagerie"
"Arena"
"The City on the Edge of Forever"
"Journey to Babel"

"The Man Trap" - on the show's NBC premiere, I was there. I wasn't sure if I liked the series or not, but it was science fiction and I found that at least was appealing. I thought the crew, as presented in that episode seemed too big, and it was somewhat hard to grab onto which characters were important. At that point in time, no-one was familiar with a Kirk, or a Spock, or Vulcans, or what the size of the ship was and who they represented. All of that was to come with later familiarity.
I thought it was way better than Lost in Space that was airing on CBS. I watched them both, but liked Star Trek better.

This was the model of RCA Victor color TV my dad purchased in the early 1960s. My father was also Red/Green color-blind. The set cost about the same as a new car. But at least I got to watch Star Trek in color.

That’s a thing of beauty.
Beautifully crafted walnut cabinet. The legs matched the sofa and love seat legs of my parent's 1960s post-modern living room furniture, purchased around the same time as the TV.

Gorn vs White Rabbit!!!!

I’m betting on the White Rabbit to win. They fight dirty…

Screens were so round in those days. You missed seeing an incredible amount of the film frame and never knew it.

That's a good reason for an excuse to rewatch in syndication, when the CRTs were improved. Although for me, a rewatch doesn't need an excuse.

I went through old newspaper listings from when I first saw Star Trek in Las Vegas in the early 70s. Interestingly, it wasn't "stripped" to run five days a week, but ran on Thursdays only, with other shows in that timeslot on other days.
