What does God tell you?

In all seriousness... not all the time. I believe that truly hearing God is a special thing and people who say they hear Him all the time... I think they aren't really hearing Him. What I think they're hearing is their own desire.
I've only heard God a couple of times and I know it's been when it was really important that I heard Him for sure.
^ this

(btw, I've never ever done the "this" thing before - and it just felt so good, so right :) )

Could I ask you both a couple of questions?

In my experience, this is how sane people (like yourselves) describe God "speaking" to them. It's a rare thing, and sometimes a life-changing thing. Defined in terms like these, my mother would say that God has "spoken" to her, as well.

My question is: what is it like, exactly? Do you hear an actual voice? Or is it just some kind of strong feeling, or intuition, or epiphany? Or do you receive some kind of sign or omen, like opening a Bible and finding a particularly compelling verse?

And finally: how do you know it's God? And not just your own intuition, or even a coincidence?

I won't debate or even question your answers. I really am just interested in hearing about your experiences.
It's a very quiet voice. I can't call it male or female. And I can't truly say how I know. It's just something I know.

you don't hear the voice of God. that'd get you killed. you hear the Metatron, the voice of God.

took five Adams for them to work that out.

that or the person saying they heard god is a loony.

"God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains"

in light of a different voice of "Jesus" in the book A Course of Miracles I have decided to "bump" this thread,, maybe again..

one friend stated that this book gives the over-all impression that we of ourselves are all Jesus's in one form or another.

this would coincide with the idea that we are all Buddha's as that we all have been enlightened at one point and maintained that state long enough to know we were enlightened. Still there is another "idea" within these realms of thought space and time...in that "Jesus" has been to other planet's at other times and still it is our Earth that has caused His "death" on the cross by giving us the "power" of freewill and our improper use of that there power of will.

in light of the three "societies" that considered the meaning's of or follow hearer's of the voice of God how cultish are these societies and their followers and what does the "public" need to do about these three societies, whom the members are seemingly totally lost to another's word as what is true and such. The third society is viewed as the Conversations with God, system of works.

aside... I have used the wiki to describe these books where God's voice is heard.

I'm atheist/agnostic, but I'll play...

1. can you hear God?

No

2. If you could say hear God what might God say?

Your name's not on the list, you're not coming in

3. Would you believe you are hearing God?

Depends on where I was. Once upon a time I though Michael Dorn was talking to me in a supermarket

Turned out to be something on the radio over the PA (Dorn talking about being on TNG)

4. Would you care that God was talking to you?

I'd only care what he had to say for himself...

5. Should you write a book about this? or make a web site.. ?

No, it would appear someone else has done these things already

6. If someone did do this would you believe them, in that they have direct contact with said "God?"

I'd listen to what they had to say and decide if what they were banging on about was legitimate or not

7. Also has anything strange ever happened that you can not explain except by assuming this "God" had something to do with it?

Nah, I usually blame it on Aliens or Communists.

Staunch athiest here

1. can you hear God?

No

2. If you could say hear God what might God say?

Send money

3. Would you believe you are hearing God?

No, I have had religious experiences on drugs but those only reinforced my opinion that religion is all in the mind

4. Would you care that God was talking to you?

If I ever heard the voice of God I would assume I was having some sort of hallucination so yes I would be rather concerned

5. Should you write a book about this? or make a web site.. ?

It's been done, old hat, why bother

6. If someone did do this would you believe them, in that they have direct contact with said "God?"

Well this would either be some kind of scam or a delusional person. So, no

7. Also has anything strange ever happened that you can not explain except by assuming this "God" had something to do with it?

No. I think there are earthly explanations for every event even if we don't understand them

1. can you hear God?

No.

2. If you could say hear God what might God say?
Where the f** is my Dodo, i spent days on that.

3. Would you believe you are hearing God?
Only if he gave me next week euro millions winning lottery numbers.

4. Would you care that God was talking to you?
Hello!!..Next weeks winning lottery numbers.:)

Yes...How i won the lottery, and how you can to....in 56 easy £300 steps.

6. If someone did do this would you believe them, in that they have direct contact with said "God?"
No....but im hoping some do, or my "How to win the lottery" books and course are not going to do well.

7. Also has anything strange ever happened that you can not explain except by assuming this "God" had something to do with it?
Ask me after next week lottery results.

1. can you hear God?

No, I'm an atheist. We don't have Holy Trinity 3G coverage.

2. If you could say hear God what might God say?
"Hey, dude, do you know Margaret? If you do, tell her I'm still here, but I'm not going to answer her as long as she keeps telling me to make her boobs grow and watch her get her first period. It's seriously starting to creep me out, man."

3. Would you believe you are hearing God?
No. I'd believe I was given some very potent drugs.

4. Would you care that God was talking to you?
If it turned out to be real, of course. It would mean I would have to adjust my entire worldview. I would also have some gotcha questions for the Big Guy.

Does it involve a self-flagellating albino priest in search of an ancient code hidden in works of art?

6. If someone did do this would you believe them, in that they have direct contact with said "God?"
Not unless they could offer some compelling proof like predicting the coming apocalypse in a reasonable timeframe and with specific information and then have it come true.

7. Also has anything strange ever happened that you can not explain except by assuming this "God" had something to do with it?
I once built a baseball stadium in my corn field because a voice told me too. Unfortunately, only the Cubs showed up to play (they had nothing better to do in October), which pretty definitively disproved the existence of a higher power. Turns out it was just some creepy homeless guy whispering in the corn field.

God told me that all these people that think if their "God" is in someone else then they are listening to the "wrong" God and or an incorrect intuitive moralistic voice that the other person has invented to dupe them into giving them their monies.

but seriously what does a society do with its members that are under the influence of said cult problem?

joking aside it is their problem till it effects another person right?

Religion is like a penis.

It's fine to have one.
It's fine to be proud of it.
But please don't whip it out in public and wave it around.
And please, please don't force it down my children's throats.

And mine is bigger than yours.
