As with many of the online communities that are no longer with us (thankfully TrekBBS isn't here yet), improvements are no longer made, the staff no longer care, and gradually you stop visiting as often. Then one day, after a few months or maybe even years, you think "I wonder what's going on on the BBS" and visit to discover a letter from the site owner explaining that the community could no longer be sustained. Or you are directed to a shitty ad page.
