What do you enjoy that you aren't the "target audience" for? (Be nice)

I watch and have watched way too many cartoons to name. And I watch Girls on HBO though I'm not quite sure why. Though I hate to admit it I'm probably older than typical for Tosh.0, Key and Peele, Hunger Games and so on.

Well, if we're going to name kids cartoons, then everything under the sun. 90% of my TV viewing is cartoons for kids.

From Gravity Falls to TMNT 2012 to One Piece to Veggie Tales to Adventure Time. I watch them all.

Arabic Soap Operas...as an older white American, clearly not the target... (or maybe preCISely the target!)...you can tell what is going on without speaking a word of Arabic!

Witches of East End is on Lifetime, so I'm certainly not the target audience, but I get a kick out of it.

It's a good show. If it was called anything else there wouldn't be a stigma associated with it

I watch Glee and I recently turned 39. The show most certainly isn't what it used to be, and it keeps making changes that I feel move it farther away from what it used to be in bad ways, but every once in awhile it still had flashes of its original spark. The most recent round of changes may have pushed it past the point of no return, but I think it's too soon to tell.

I think Glee's biggest weakness may have been that even when it established secondary characters of interest they frequently came and went w/out explanation, which doesn't make a ton of sense if the characters are high school students. Yes, the show was willing to lampshade this in ways that were occasionally entertaining, but it strikes me as a bad idea to effectively lampshade your own writing weaknesses. It would be like Captain Picard actually saying, "Well, that's a problem they'll have to solve for themselves, because we're off to a different adventure!"

I thought Glee lost all its focus when it shifted away from the adult characters. I always thought they retooled the show for the worst.

I'd say Revenge is the main one for me.

While Kurt is...or perhaps was, at this point...one of my favorite characters, I have to admit that when the seniors graduated I was kind of hoping at most they'd be recurring characters and that would be that. I got unpleasant 90210 vibes when NY became a prominent aspect of the show, and it's hard for me to view the show actually moving locations as anything other than a complete betrayal of the original concept, or at least an admission that they ran out of ideas for what to do with it.

I also feel quite sorry for the new actors who joined the show just to be essentially tossed aside.

The Walking Dead. I'm not really a fan of the zombie genre but I really love TWD.

The Good Wife, Revenge, and Nashville.

I'm 44 years old, yet I'm a HUGE VeggieTales fan.

Me, too. I never imagined myself watching a show about the zombie apocalypse, let alone that's I'd enjoy it so much.

Also: British Television. An old lady in Texas is certainly not the target audience for Ripper Street, Luther, The Fall or Jonathan Creek.

I'm 60 (61 in 2 days) and I doubt any of the science fiction or fantasy shows I love are targeted towards grandmas. I enjoy The Walking Dead, all the Treks, Buffy, MAoS (actually anything by Joss Whedon), Lost Girl and some of the comic book hero movies. Anything with dinosaurs and BEMs especially.

Buffy is 22 years old (Look at me splitting hairs! You know I'm talking about the movie when you're only thinking about the TV show.).

It's a golden oldie.

"Young people" today weren't even sperm when Buffy was invented.

Buffy then, is not Buffy now.

Reruns of Buffy are not targeting the same demos that first runs of Buffy was, which means that the advertising is different.

No matter what you think of yourself (any of us, I'm not being specific about anyone of us... One of us! One of us! One of us!) it's the advertising that matters. If you are watching a show that you enjoy (with respect to this thread, that you should enjoy.) and you want to buy everything that is advertised during the ad breaks of that programming, then the marketing people have gotten it right because they are smarter than you and you are being manipulated successfully into emptying your wallet by ####s.

If you watch the "wrong" show, you will see the "wrong" advertising, and you will buy nothing.

It is unAmerican to not consume.

(I was going to say "unconsuume", but that's obviously another word for defecate.)

Arrow. It's aimed squarely at low twentysomethings, not people twenty years older.

Off the top of my head I'd say anything Harry Potter and most Pixar movies. I'm 42.
