What Changes Would You Like To See In "Plato’s Stepchildren"

And again as stated above; what there were TWO groups of aliens responsible for western Greek culture on Earth?
No, no, just the one. The Plantoniacs were Greek fanboys, who were rooting around, found the Vaguely Greeks, and fell in love with the lifestyle.

And what of Apollo in Who Mourns For Addonis? You remember all the others he called out to before he 'spread himself on the wind' at the end of that episode, right? ;)

The Platonians didn't create Greek culture. It was the other way around. They *copied* Greek culture. Like the Iotians did with the Chicago gangs.

I'd say that would be an improvement. :D

Not one of my favorites. But I'll force myself to watch it, if only to see the new sfx.

I haven't sat through this one in years. How much SFX is there to fiddle with?

I check out the YouTube clips and save myself 41 minutes.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In "Plato’s Stepchild

I thought that these aliens actually embraced the hedonism of the Greek Nobility, not the OTHER way around (as Apollo mentioned). Indeed, the 'bitch queen's behaviour at watching Kirk and Spock humiliated seemed to be indicative of it.

I actually find this one of the more powerful episodes in general, largely BECAUSE it's disturbing. The acting is really good, particularly when you realize that for one act our heroes are FORCED into degrading behavior. It's summed up neatly with Spock crushing the vase out of anger.

Think 'Son of a bitch must PAY'.

Captain Kirk acting like a horse and....Warwick Davis are up next on the chopping block. I honestly don't know how this episode got a green light back during the original production.

Michael Dunn, not Warwick Davis (who wasn't even born yet).

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In "Plato’s Stepchild

Just saw the Remastered episode at 12 noon in my area.

Here's what seemed to be changed:

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

-Orbital shots of the Enterprise approaching, circling and then finally leaving Platonius...also, when Parmen's violent telekinetic fit shakes the Enterprise about there are two new shots of the ship lurching and bobbing about in orbit.

-McCoy's medical tricorder readout now has a much more believable and realistic graph readout detailing the blood samples taken from Alexander and Parmen, with overlaid green and red(?)colors on the graph and a grid background. The original 1968 optical was nothing more than a closeup of a sickbay bed monitor superimposed over the tricorder screen.

Did they remove the strings from the floating items?

What's the problem?

I can't watch Spock riding Kirk with a straight face. I always shake my head laughing when Shatner, who also probably had to do five or six takes because of laughter, mimics a horse. I can't even watch this episode with my family for the same reason.

I think the ladies should be shown giving Kirk and Spock a good rogering.
Rogering?

Boinking

Pegging.

PS: DON'T LOOK UP PEGGING ON WIKIPEDIA! You've been warned. :(

But if Shatmandu or MeanJoePhaser had said that, you would have immediately known that they were joking. JERK!

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In "Plato’s Stepchild

Nnnnnooooo, I can't see any humor in calling Michael Dunn Warwick Davis, aside from assuming someone thinks all little people look alike.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In "Plato’s Stepchild

Well excuse me for thinking "Willow" after seeing Michael Dunn in a tunic with long curly hair. I'll try to be more politically correct next time. :p

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In "Plato’s Stepchild

^^^
Ah, that's the young man who played the Ewok in "Jedi" and also Willow in that movie. Or so my old brain recalls.

Sometimes I think beaker has been living in a fallout shelter since 1969. ;)

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In "Plato’s Stepchild

Come on, you can't deny Kirk being forced to slap his own face wasn't funny. You have to admit...he had that coming for a long time.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In "Plato’s Stepchild

I love Plato's Stepchildren. It's a good ep in my book. Canon. Whatever. :D

Just saw this one and I was missing Spock's "bitter dregs" line in his song to the girls. Am I dreaming or was that line missing?

No excuse.

When you see a black actor, do you automatically think "Hey, there's Shaft!"?

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See In "Plato’s Stepchild

I watched the first act and changed the channel. This episode, in my opinion, is just BAD. Embarrassing and boring...not like "The Way to Eden" which is silly but campy and at least watchable.

If you were trying to "turn someone on" to Star Trek, this would be an episode to avoid.
