What brought you to TrekBBS?

Someone on trekmovie.com mentioned this place, so I checked it out as I needed a place to rant and rave about Star Trek so here I am!

found it a few years back, joined, couldn't keep up with reading all the forums (silly boy) eft. came back wanting a more active place to discuss the books when booktrek went into decline and stayed.

TrekToday led me here; that and some vague desire for online community. I've been on-and-off posting for a few years now. Helps fill time at work and keeps me in the know about Trek happenings.

My first foray here was in the summer of '01 - much noise was being made regarding rumours for Series V, topic of the minute was whether it should be an Excelsior series under Sulu, or a Starfleet Academy series with a recast TOS crew (the more things change, eh?)
I don't remember really how I found the site - it must have postdated my starting my site, as my username is the name of that now defunct labour of love, so I suspect I was on a trawl for spoilers when I came across this place. It was the first posting board I'd ever participated in, though I've had one or two long breaks from it in the interim (i missed the cull of '02, for example, the 'whut?' times, and the changeover from Old Blue). I defected for quite a while to Buffy-Boards.com/later Slayer-Boards.com (I was top poster there at the time of its untimely demise) but came crawling back here sometime in '04, mostly drawn by the allure of the Neutral Zone, something I had completely avoided during my first time here.

I started reading a Trek news site back in '98 or so when DS9 was still on. After a while, I headed over to another site (Section 31 IIRC) and from there, went to TrekToday for my Star Trek news.

Then I started reading some of the BBS threads that were listed on the sidebar as an unregistered user. Finally registered after getting annoyed with all the flood-checking. Took me several months afterwards before I actually started posting.

Voyager's Endgame, just about seven years ago, in hunt of anything I could get my hands on. I've been here ever since, although with different user names.

i was tired about babbling about how great Kirk was to people who really didn't care, so i Google searched Star Trek forum and here I am.

Enterprise. :)

I wrote an ENT story and I think posted it somewhere (I think fanfic.net). then a friend (a TrekBBS poster) brought me over here. at least, I think that's how it happened. I've sort of forgotten the exact sequence of events. either way, it was back in the Fall of 2003.

I don't remember exactly, but I'd been reading Tim Lynch's reviews for years, and through them found Jammer's and Jim Wright' reviews. One of those sites led me to TBBS. At that time I had no idea what a BBS was, so I lurked for a while to get a handle on what was going on. I joined up in March 2000 when I saw a thread I had to reply to. The thread was about reviews. Sort of closed the circle, or something. :D

Wow, there's a blast from the past. I'd forgotten all about that place.

I think it was because Psi Phi shut down...

Huh? Psi Phi didn't shut down. Those boards are still active. I don't visit them as much as I used to either, but I check in from time to time and they're still going strong.

didn't the DS9 section of Psi Phi shut down? I haven't been there in a while but I remember something like that happening. at the time, I used to be a regular on alt.tv.star-trek.ds9 and also alt.star-trek.creative. the alt/ds9 group used to see regular visits from Robert Hewitt Wolfe whereupon we would hammer him about Niner stuff. he was exceedingly good natured and gave as good as he got (see the "bitchslapping" episode) ;)

Greywolf and Kilashdra etc were some of the great writers on alt.star-trek-creative...

all in all, good days!

Early on in Enterprise's run, I was visiting TrekBBS because I liked reading the news from there and I thought the Enterprise Fivers were funny. After a while, I started poking around the site and found the BBS. I poked around here for several years, mostly frequenting the Caption This contests, though I starting coming here more for news on the new movie. Finally, about seven months ago, I couldn't get one of my Trek computer games to work, so I registered to ask for help. I decided since I was registered, I would begin actually posting, and since then I've been that pain in everyone's metaphorical ass that you all know. :D

Sometimes ago I decided to read Trek news and I found TrekToday. Later I grew curious to find some Trek board and here I am.

It can all be found at http://stng.36el.com/ now, if you ever want to check anything.

Yeah, the DS9 stuff has been gone for three years or more. Can't recall all the details.

Well, since I don't remember as DS9 section over there in the nine years I've been visiting the place, I'm going to have to say yes. They have an ENTERPRISE board, but that's been dead for close to a year now. The Trek Books/Non Trek Books area is still active though.

It was my fellow Trek writers. The BBS was mentioned on a few other sites, especially the SNW site by Dean Wesley Smith, so here I am!

I've been reading TrekToday for years for spoilers and such...I tried once to register, maybe 3 years ago, I dunno...Didn't work...Anyway, something caught my eye, or I wanted to know what you all thought about Trek XI and so I registered a few days ago. And so I'm here. :)
