What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

"Are you okay, Dad?"
"I am now, Jake. I am NOW."

:adore:

The way Avery delivers that line sends me over the edge one last time. There’s so much emotion in it those six short words. If he hadn’t delivered it in such a way the ending probably would have fallen flat; it would have felt like a complete reset. But Sisko clearly remembers everything that has happened.

Actually, old Jake told Sisko that they had to be together when Jake died or Sisko would end up untethered and lost for eternity. He was not only saving his dad's life, but giving his younger self a second chance of having his dad around longer.
That's true. Granted if Sisko had failed to not be hit by the beam when he bounced back the entire cycle would start over, only Sisko would know about all of this from the start. I wonder what would have happened if during this second loop Sisko killed himself when in the regular universe so Jake wouldn't someday kill himself.

Okay. The music in "The Way to Eden" is fun and actually not bad, even for made-for-TV hippie tunes written and filmed in 1968. :)
For purpose, it's great music. Stepping out to Eden illustrates the dangerous naivete of the group, innocent but misguided, but then rearranged to show their dangerous turn.

I liked Bajoran politic episodes on DS9. I know lots of people didn't and I think they were forced to do fewer over them in later seasons but I always enjoyed them and I liked that stuff from the first 2 years when Bajor was still recovering from the Occupation and stuff like that.

The Visitor wouldn’t work as well as it does without Sisko coming out of it carrying the weight of what happened.

I hate the idea of Section 31 as introduced in DS9 and I think "In The Pale Moonlight" was over-rated.
I agree about Section 31. It's contrary to the concept of the Federation as a place where's truth and rule of law. And it always strained belief that Section 31 could have remained secret, especially now that Every Single Star Trek Show has to have some Section 31 agents.

"Moonlight" has grown on me, though.

I like the idea of Section 31. If the Federation is to exist as a major power in a galaxy with the Romulan Tal Shiar and the Cardassian Obsidian Order, it makes sense the Federation has its own intelligence agency separate from the police or the armed uniformed agency charged with defending the Federation from enemies both foreign and domestic.

What I don't like is the constant depiction this agency is corrupt, evil, or seemingly operating outside any governmental authority. This agency is no different than any US intelligence agency such as the FBI, CIA, or NSA.

It's also silly Section 31 is named after Section 31 of the Federation charter. Or, if that's what they want to call it, then it's silly that the agency is supposed to be ultra secret yet specified in the charter.

It's also ludicrous that an ultra secret intelligence agency is going to have its own visible Starfleet badge that looks different than any other Starfleet badge.
