What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Ah, MOONRAKER. You definitely have to be in a certain mindset or mood to watch it.

Fun side note, I met Richard Kiel many years ago at DragonCon. Nice guy, fun conversation about his time as Jaws and his THE TWILIGHT ZONE appearance. Sitting down, he was almost my height. (5' 7") And when I shook his hand, it was massive.

Moonraker is great fun. Absolute drivel, but I love it. And isn't that what Bond is supposed to be about really? I love a good espionage flick too, but Bond was never really about that (up until Dalton -the greatest Bond by the way - or From Russia with Love - pacing is woeful but great story~) Anyway yeah, Moonraker is the height of Bond nonsense but still fun.

Quantum of Solace really does suck, even though there are a few good scenes.

I love Craig as Bond, though.

Watch Living Daylights again .... Dalton is the best in terms of what Fleming wanted and in terms of a great actor. A tour de force.

For hetero men maybe, and don't get me wrong, that's okay for you.
But that's nothing I can relate to.

It's still history. Guarantee you some some bi or whatever guys and girls love it too. For me, it has nothing to do with sexuality. It's just gas. And I recognize it as gas.

He was dismissive of the Bajoran religious belief and felt uncomfortable meeting with Kai Opaka. He dismissed the Prophets as religious beings to the Bajorans and instead elected to view them as "wormhole aliens".

He didn't want Jake hanging out with Nog because he was a Ferengi and was openly disdainful of the Ferengi, barely concealing his concempt for Quark. It wasn't until well past Season 4 that Sisko began to evolve beyond this a bit.

He (while under the influence of his own trauma) blamed Picard, a victim of kidnapping, torture, coercion for something he had no control over and essentially blamed a victim for actions outside of his control.

While Sisko did eventually see these character traits diminsh over the course of the series, he is, by far, the biggest piece of shit there ever was as a mainline Starfleet Captain outside of Lorca.

First off, he was not reluctant to meet Opaka. He met with her pretty much right when that Vedek came to him and said, "It is time." When he became known as the 'emissary', of course he would want to distance himself from that role... as a Starfleet officer, he is not supposed to interfere in the internal affairs of another world. If he actively did things in the role as emissary, he would very much be affecting Bajor. That's wielding a massive amount of power because, let's be real here, super religious people tend to be led like sheep when someone they view as a religious icon says anything. No one should wield that kind of power, and Sisko actively tried to avoid having that power. (He later did accept the role, but he only interfered once... in "RAPTURE".)

Second, he was never dismissive abount the Bajoran belief. He respected that it existed, but he wasn't going to be a follower. It IS possible to not agree with someone's beliefs in certain things and actually NOT be a member of the 'other side'. Unfortunately, a certain segment of the population doesn't seem to understand that notion.

Third, he didn't want Nog around Jake at first because the first thing that happened when Sisko arrived on DS9, Nog got arrested for stealing. Would you want YOUR child hanging around a criminal?

Fourth, while he did say that Ferengi and humans didn't have a lot in common, he DID change his mind about that fairly quickly. We see the first hint of that in "THE NAGUS" when he watched Jake teach him to read. That was in season 1, by the way. And he endorsed Nog's Academy entrance, which was season 3. If I understand math correctly, the numbers 1 and 3 come before 4. Hence, this was before season 4.

Fifth, he had disdain for Quark because Quark had caused trouble on DS9 multiple times.

"BABEL" - he got the disease spread everywhere because he broke into quarters to use the replicator.

"THE PASSENGER" - he brought mercenaries to help steal a Federation tanker.

"MOVE ALONG HOME" - he cheated the Wadi, and they went through the whole ordeal due to this.

"VORTEX" - he tried to double dip with Croden and got the Miradorn twin killed.

"THE SIEGE" - he was selling seats on evacuation runabouts that were meant for civilians to get out to safety.

"INVASIVE PROCEDURES" - he bypassed security sensors and Verad's group nearly got Jadzia killed.

There are other examples, but I think you get the idea why Quark was not at the top of his Christmas list.

Sixth, Picard - he represented the biggest loss in his life, Jennifer's death. You're going to have residual feelings for a while after that. You can't just shut off those feelings. Especially at that time, when they didn't know as much about the Borg and what they do to the assimilated. He got past that grief and anguish by the end of the pilot episode.

Did Sisko have flaws? Absolutely. Did he grow past many of them? Definitely. Was he a layered captain? BY FAR, he was the most layered captain because he had flaws, and got past them. He was human, and humans make mistakes and do the best they can with what life throws at them.

Calling Benjamin Sisko a piece of shit is like saying ALL humans are pieces of shit. And while a lot of people today are because they don't try to grow and learn, Sisko NEVER belonged in that category.

That the destruction of Romulus was sabotage by someone in the temporal cold war in order to not only create the Kelvin timeline but to alter the TRUE path of the prime tng and onwards timeline. In the REAL future aka "all good things", and "endgame", the destruction of Romulus definitely never happened. What did happen was that the klingons took over the romulan empire as stated in all good things by PICARD: "Right. Right. Klingons. In this time period, the Klingons have taken over the Romulan Empire."
Let's be honest and look at WHY Romulus was destroyed in st 2009? It's because it was made by clueless people with no True passion, love, and especially understanding of the trek universe. No true and core trek writer or staff from tos to ent would EVER consider just wiping out Romulus. But a stupid, careless, ignorant, talentless person with ZERO regard for trek Lore and it's fans, and only intentions at a possible attempt at recognition and money, would happily and easily make the stupid mistake of thinking they can just make a movie about a show they don't really comprehend or understand just because it already has a fan base strong enough to generate money, and they think the fans just want to see some action and boom boom, let's add some world disappearing, how about Romulus. If Roddenberry was alive he'd fire anyone who suggested this on the spot and ensure he'd be BLACKLISTED from Hollywood PERMANENTLY for the rest of his talentless ignorant life. You don't just blow up Romulus like that. You don't just decide to change trek how you want to because you have no respect for fans and think you are so . brilliant you can single handedly DESTROY the Lore and rewrite everything how YOU want it and then delude yourself to believe it's better than any other trek movie. That's a hallmark of an extremely arrogant, ignorant, and talentless person who deep down knows he was given the position because talent and skill doesn't matter anymore, arbitrary fame of some other random "succesful work" and friends in top positions get you hired, not talent and passion and understanding of the Lore and fan base, and as I was saying, the hallmark of a talentless person who is so hopelessly overshadowed by superior writing and production of past movies, that the only way they can not lose their mind is if they delude themselves to think that they're so much better, and in fact so good, they'll even blow up Romulus and make it official just because they're so great. And the fans will love it.

Well unfortunately there are some of us who consider the writers mindset and intent as well and not just the content of their brain (in this case a micro brain), and you know what, it's obvious that the whole ST 2009 Kelvin timeline Romulus blown up is Canon shenanigans, is just that, shenanigans by a disrespectful, talentless writer, trying to use every disreputable trick in Hollywood, the hallmark of talentless writers/producers/etc, to try and make the movie gain as many ratings by critics as possible without making a fkn lick of coherent sense nor follow established Lore or rules. That's what I saw when st 2009 came out. Another way to easily spot a bad writer who is choking, is when they're so quick to bring back old villains, or scenes, like khan, and spocks death, but they think they're so talented they can make it better and "subvert the viewers expectations" (because that's what the fans want, their expectations subverted from trek) by putting Kirk in the radiation chamber, and theyre too dam cowardly to even make it believable, they used the most piss poor ridiculous attempt to quickly revive him before they ruin their own garbage franchise. Bringing back Spock took a movie and a whole lot of in universe sense. But Kirk was quickly brought back by tribbles, the scene of Kirk's death was neither emotional, nor did anyone care, but you can sure bet the writers or directors or producers made an interview saying "oh this scene is so good. Even better than the original". Only talentless writers resort to copying, and when they do it very quickly by movie 2 copying scenes and entire villains it's even more apparent. And look at how badly they flopped. Anything the writers added to the khan story on top of khan himself, was so strange, badly written, and made no fkn sense at all. They had to resort to an old villain from the top grossing trek movie and highest rated one ever because they sure as hell can't fkn make an even somewhat decent one on their own other than release garbage and kill off characters for no reason, like Icheb, Hugh, etc, and even fkn Q, which makes NO SENSE at all. Any trek fan knows Q can't just die, but some disease in klutzmans tiny micro brain prevents him from even recognizing the obvious. He probably was like "oh yea we will do a season where q dies and they say goodbye. It will be so emotional and all the fans will love it.oh and Picard will just allow Rio, the most irritating and annoying and most 2020 behaving character, to violate dozens of temporal and federation laws and remain in the past", and not an iota of consideration or thought was given by klutzman and Co because they have no logic, no reason, no understanding, no knowledge, no idea on how to make a character or show follow inexorably from established traits and plot points, they can't because they have microscopic brains (if we can call it that), are arrogant, and have no idea wtf they're doing. They truly believe their disgusting nasty chit doesn't stink and smells like the best roses and tulips instead, and can't see their own stench, which is the worst stench of all possible worst stenches. How it never crosses their microscopic minds that Picard could never allow rio to stay, or q to just die, is so far beyond me, because luckily, I'll never ever *knocks on wood* have this level of sheer arrogance, fkn hubris, and stupidity and complete lack of awareness or lack of taking my work and position seriously and doing the best possible to maintain the heart of a show im writing for, like klutzman and Co. I find it grateful I'll never have to experience such a mental disease, such a massive lack of awareness, logic, and intellect. People with Dunning Kruger like klutzman truly don't realize how badly they're infected by it, the more arrogant and unaware they are and incapable they are of realizing criticism of their work has absolute merit, the HARDER they're suffering from Dunning Kruger, a terrible mental disease inflicting many many people, especially the young of today. I only hope they grow out of this phase of thinking theyre "hot chit", and invincible, and the"best". I'd suggest they start by respecting the creative work of their predecessors, respect it enough to continue just as how their predecessors would..honor the works of the great, become humble and honest, and throw away that egotistical delusional arrogance that is a clear powerful sign and indicator of a mental disease and insecurity

Really. Did you read my post before you commented this or did you randomly happen to write about the "destruction" of Romulus (fake, happened in an alternate timeline so is disc, pic, SNW, ld and prodigy get a pass somewhat from me so long as they don't discuss Romulus)?

How did it do any good? The romulan weren't getting stale..in fact they were getting real good by the end of ds9.

Please read my post again to understand why the talentless writers decided to destroy Romulus. Maybe then it will make sense. I can assure you that it was in NO WAY a genius or thought out choice on their part. They simply wanted to force Leonard nimoy in there alongside with a totally uncharacteristic of Spock, fake Spock in a movie and couldn't think of a good reason to have Spock sent back (it's because they can't think at all in the first place), and quickly decided without a shred of thought, by destroying a planet, becsuse oh look, if we destroy an important planet crucial to star trek, then it will HAVE to make sense and will HAVE TO JUSTIFY the reason why original superior Spock is sent back in time to a bunch of strangers who just happen to be in A federation in A starship enterprise with A "captain Kirk" and Spock. Anyone of the writers who wrote BoBW or all good things could have written an incredibly beautiful, coherent, and sophisticated time travel story with nimoy, but not the talentless unaware ignorant buffoons of st 2009. That's why Romulus was destroyed and exaxtly that. To try and give the audience some excuse and pathetic justification for why Spock was sent back in time, and to CHEAPLY raise the stakes. "Oh lookee here biggie planet go boom boom. Very bad boi villain. Scary man. Dangerous. Boom boom pew pew". Thays the kind of mind the "writers" had when they wrote that God forsaken "script". It's something a child would write. "And then Romulus went boom boom. And a big explosion happened that sucked Spock back in time. And then, Kirk's mom was giving birth on an exploding ship, ans then Kirk's dad decided to collide with bad boi ship, when he could have used autopilot, but I'm a child what do I know about an adult making a reasonable course of action that all humans do unless there's no other way, in order to survive, aka using autopilot, and then the Romulan who doesn't look or behave romulan nor has a romulan looking ship, just did nothing for 20-30 years only to suddenly show up, and then pew pew". That's how st 2009 was born and how st was wrecked by adults with the minds of children

You need to learn how to seperate your thoughts into smaller paragraphs.

Not one giant block of text, that makes readability really hard.

Did you read anything that he said or just attack him first because of the way he said it?
I didn't say anything (for or against) him.

He just posted a giant wall of text, and it's readability is more difficult than necessary.

So I'm telling him to learn to use proper formatting to make it easier for other people to read.

I didn't even bother reading a single line of his wall of text.

So there's nothing for/against the guy.

He just needs to format his text so it's easier for other people to read.

I still haven't seen a whole James Bond movie to this day. And I plan to keep it that way.
Yeah. Over the top absurdist escapism that I cannot stand. Never got through a single film despite efforts of friends.

Real world history studies of spies is far more interesting.

We are all pieces of shit. We just have to actively make intentional decisions each and every day to be better.

And please keep in mind I did concede that Sisko grew over the series and evolved.
Indeed. And if it's one thing later Berman era tried was show humans as growing rather than already evolved.
