What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

They sure did ignore the light barrier. But I think they all heard of relativity, and a light speed limit, and chose to ignore it for better stories. Similar to how Asimov often ignored the fact that most worlds in our solar system can't produce life. If you want people to meet aliens, it's easiest to ignore science.
Indeed, yes. And Star Trek often did that same thing.

They went a bit farther still. I mean first, you have life in space!! Pitcher plant, Gormagander, Tardigrade and in Voyager, places so void that you can't see any stars!!! I mean do these people know anything about astronomy? As if there was a place in the entire universe from where you couldn't see the stars!!! But there's still life there!!! Wow! and that time when voyager fell into some kind of a hole (several light-years wide) and samely nothing there, but still an indigenous life!!! Wow, again!!!

Who said anything about outer space?

Clearly there are places and reasons. It's not inconceivable that there are others.

Yeah, I didn't think that after pointing out the obvious, I'd have to do it a second time. I am talking of the OUTER SPACE.... Got it?

Because sure, there are places where the sun never shines... and it's likely that you can't see stars from there either... But I was obviously not talking about these places.

Woah man, those are my two favorites. Although it seems like a lot of people don't like the Maroon Monster so that's not overly controversial.
I love the Monster Maroons. The only problem I have with them isn't even really a problem: in-continuity I think Starfleet held onto them for too long. No way should the Enterprise-C have used any type of variant of those uniforms. But when it comes to TWOK-TUC, I can't picture those films without them. People can work in all the stupid "marching band" cracks they like, I think it gave Starfleet a very formal look.

And like the FC Uniforms too. Even though I'm glad they didn't adopt them for VOY, because I don't think it would've fit the look or tone of the show. But for the TNG Movies and Wartime DS9? They fit like a glove.

Maybe?
Milky Way has a huge void in the middle with no stars in it, scientists find

The lack of stars was addressed in the episode - it was blamed on the high levels of theta radiation in the region and treated as an unusual phenomenon

Except that such a place would block light and therefore be visible from earth as a big black stain... There's no such stain.
