Has anyone been watching CNN's The Seventies? If so, did you also find it cheesy how they snuck in that rushed montage of all the artists they didn't find time to cover at the end while they were still talking specifically about New Wave?
Yeah...70s music in general has a lot to offer and shouldn't be underestimated...but that comment about it having the best of any genre got afrom me as well.
I was surprised that they spent so much of the episode in the pre-disco era, but at the same time, they barely scratched the surface of what was going on in early-to-mid-70s music. The coverage of late 70s music just seemed rushed.
I also thought it odd how they snuck in that very brief "history of Motown" segment early in the episode. I don't remember, did they manage to not cover Motown in either of the music-centric episodes of The Sixties last year...?
I also found it a questionable choice to save the music episode for last...seems like it would have fit better somewhere in the middle. "The State of the Union Is Not Good" would have been a fitting end to the series, since it took its topic all the way into early '81 (Reagan assuming office / release of the hostages).
