What are you watching???

True Detective - The season finally. I maybe in the minority but I actually enjoyed this season of TD. While no where as great as the previous season, that was like capturing lightning in a bottle. I think people were judging season two on what they thought it should be, instead of what it was. I enjoyed the dialog, with its constant use of metaphor and every now and again soliloquy. My personal favorite was Vince Vaughn as Frank, I like him more when he does serious drama. He nailed the ending of this, I kept hoping that he would make it. However when Jordan showed up in all white, I knew he laid down. Frank was relentless, almost like a shark. I was truly sadden with his fate. I thought that both Rachel McAdams and Colin Farrell were both better then I thought they would be. I've always enjoyed McAdams in most of her roles, but this was her best acting yet. The same with Colin Farrell, who I don't particularly like. He acquitted himself well here, it was a little shaky in the beginning but he found something in himself to really make Ray an interesting character. I thought the character made some really stupid decisions at the end and he could have gotten himself out of the predicament he was in, but oh well. The only character I didn't like and it was solely because of the actor. Taylor Kitsch just cannot act! The woods Ray character was running around in had more emotion and acting ability. They could have eliminated his character and I don't think it would have hurt the plot at all. I hope that TD does get another season, maybe set in Detroit or Camden NJ.

Face Off - This is without a doubt my favorite reality show. The reason, it doesn't have fake drama, the contestants are not megalomaniacs and think they are better then everyone else. In fact they usually go out of their way to help one another. Also its about designing and executing makeup prosthetic designs, whats cooler than that? One of the best parts is when Michael Westmore comes out and critiques the contestants work. He is usually always correct, in fact the winning team this week listened to what he said and followed it and they won.

Mom and I watched "The Interpreter," starring Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn. Great beginning, very tense set-up but terrible, completely scattered ending.

Impractical Jokers

When the four guys are the butt of the joke, it's very funny but occasionally, there is a sense that they're slightly humiliating members of the public which I'd rather not see.

How many episodes of Bojack Horseman are there per season? Just got through the second episode and it's the best television comedy I've seen in years so far.

Impastor.

There's a lot of shows about mistaken/misappropriated identities. Bahshee obviously, but I saw something called Sneaky Pete last week about a excon, 2 hours out of prison, on the run from the mob, who uses the endless prattle from his cellmate about his perfect childhood visting his grandparents he hasn't seen in 20 years, to take over that morons life, and move in with those grandparents of his cellmate because they think that he is their grandson. The thing about Giovanni Ribisi is that when I first met him, he was trying to outwit and out sexy Ricky Schroder for the Girl in My Two Dads, which is a fools errand on par to taking a magic ring to Mount Doom.

But that was then and this is now, where Giovanni while still not conventionally handsome, might quite possibly be the winner out of that group.
