What are you watching???

Over the past week or so I started (and am now current with) the What We Do in the Shadows TV Show. I've never seen the movie, but the TV series is great. I like all of the main cast, and I have gotten a lot of legitimate laughs from the show, which is rare from a live action comedy nowadays (at least for me). There are still a few more episodes left in this season, then it will suck to not get any for awhile (although the show has already been renewed for a third season, which is great).

I happened to catch one episode of this, an episode where Doc steals Chirstmas trees, ... It must have been their Christmas episode that season as they also went into A Christmas Carol territory... First time in my life I ever saw this show after hearing about it in popular culture. I was amazed how close to 'what I've seen and heard about this show' this show actually was, almost to the level of cliché Dukes of Hazzard.

It helps if you just approach it as the comedy it was obviously intended to be and don't put much thought in it beyond that. On the other hand, if it's not your thing, it's not your thing. I was nine years old when it came out and was at the age where I could laugh at it without understanding it. That came later. But after forty years I still think it's funny and still like it.

Finished up Season 3 of Killing Eve. Definitely the weakest of the 3 seasons avaible. Seems like diminishing returns it terms of quality and enjoyment. 1st season - killed it, 2nd season - not bad, 3rd. season - meh....

I got the 8 Saw films in a BluRay/DVD collection yesterday, and started a rewatch, watching the original Saw. Its a decent movie, but still my least favorite of the franchise. It spends too much time on two people involved in only one "game", and we don't get much from the Jigsaw killer or the stuff related to him. Its a decent enough start of the franchise, but it gets a lot better.

Just finished watching the 3 seasons of Bordertown over on Netflix. Was very good. Recommend watching it in the original Finish with subtitles. Also doing a rewatch of Chernobyl over on HBO. Awesome mini series.

I watched House on Haunted Hill (1959) yesterday. It was a fun enough campy horror movie. I was a bit disappointed by the ending, especially it trying to have a semi-twist that really doesn't work, but it has a lot of fun moments (especially involving the acid vat), and Vincent Price was great.

"Sliders" season 4. The oh-so-epic arc about superhero Quinn and brother Colin's new background in being from another world and the Kromagg overuse (they did become a generic nazi clone)... it's a bit over-arch and ridiculous at times. Colin's kinda cool, like Jamie MacCrimmon from Doctor Who. But season 5, despite its foibles, feels like a nice return to basics. That said, it's still leaps superior to season 3...
