What are you watching???

Brooklyn 99 is a weird'n.

It's a super real background with a few ridiculously comedic characters prancing about in situations serious as cancer.

A couple of them should probably be sectioned if their behaviour can't be explained with alcoholism.

But yes, SURPRISINGLY good.

Ridiculousness is much easier to stomach in sitcoms without the sappy sentimentality most sitcoms try to have. The style of humor seems a lot like 30 Rock. I wonder if they have a lot of writers in common.

Louie is an excellent show. It's hard to call it a comedy though even though it's written by a famous comedian. It's turned into something more like a philosophical essay. I love the show but it's hard to watch just because it's so god damned depressing.

Wait, Brooklyn Nine Nine is on Fox? I must have assumed it was on NBC because it's got SNL people and feels like it should be on the Thursday comedy block.

Got a little rapey this week. It has its moments, but overall I'm not thrilled with the direction Louie has taken in general. And c'mon, casting flashback Janet with a white actress is just trolling at this point

I gave Brooklyn Nine-Nine a shot but wasn't really expecting much. Pretty good show. Samberg and Crews are hilarious, the rest of the cast I'm not completely sold on, I think part of it is that Samberg goes out of his way to hog the spotlight, but I'm in for S2.

I read a short article on the subject of the wife's colour that was printed before this weeks flashback. Three points were raised in defence of his choice...

1. I like the actress.

2. It really doesn't matter.

3. My exwife has the sort of contempt for me that (usually) only a black woman can generate.

:)

Of course after this week, I am expecting to see a future episode where we see the moment of transition as the missus signs the divorce papers, and like pink Bill Bixby used to transform into green Lou Feringo, she will become black.

Have you looked at the fan films forum here?

Some of the new stuff pretendeding to be old stuff is really quite good. :)

In the Flesh.

They make a series about a Gay Zombie, but he's too fricking introverted to find a boyfriend, so why even bother making sexuality an issue if you're not going to use it?

^ A gay zombie? I thought they were always looking for brains, not sex.

Now a gay Dracula might be an interesting take, not as a spoof or satire. Dracula's always had a sexual undercurrent in his movies, especially with Lee and Langella, but only in the hetero sense as far as I know.

And when browsing Wikipedia a few minutes ago, I realize I've never seen David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia. I might have to look for that next month.

In the Flesh

It's set a year after the Zombie Uprising when all the "cured" Zombies are returned back to polite society from the government run detention and treatment centre. The problem is that the cure only lasts 24 hours, so to keep their human personality and hunger for brains satiated, they need a shot of neuropeptides in their spine daily by a nurse.

Mostly an allegory about classicism and racism, and like everything British, well made but dull.

They prefer the term 'dry'. ;)

I'm about six episodes into B99 and I agree about the cast not quite meshing except for Samberg and the chief. I like the idea for characters individually. The guy who acts like a tough guy but all his interests are really artsy, the sort of wussy pushover guy. I'm just not seeing a lot of chemistry with each other.

Probably going to check out Wil Wheaton's new talk show on Syfy tonight. And the new FARGO, of course.

Just finished catching up on The Mentalist and I'm now watching Stargate SG-1, specifically the episode where a whole backwater town is taken over by symbiotes.

Last week's and this week's episode of Fargo.

Whenever I see Colin Hanks, I always know that he has to seal the deal before something horrible happens. Poor boy was supposed to sleep with the princess in Roswell, but that midget from Lost melted his brain.

IMDB says that Colin was on Key and Peel recently.

I wonder if they dragged him to their show or he invited them to "his" or if it was just a coincidence?
