The beer is made locally but we tend to take the trip to Germany to purchase it there -for tax-reasons.

I know what you mean. We have a similar situation where going just a relatively small distance saves big money in taxes.

I remember making the Stockholm/Tallinn run on the ferry. I still talk about that trip. I could not believe my eyes with the amount of beverages and more people were buying! But with good reason. Taxes by you are...robust!!! But. The country is beautiful!
