Because of the gelatine, which is obtained from cows or pigs. Muslims don't eat pork and pigs (and parts of it). Believe me, I have muslim friend and he keeps on asking `Is there pork in it´when being confronted with unfamiliar food.

Fun thing if you bite the ends off a tim tam and get a straw you can suck the coffee up through the biscuit. So yummy
