What about bloody engineering?

JJ Abrams mentioned on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week that the engineering scenes were shot at the Budwiser factory in Van Nuys, San Fernando Valley.

During Comedy Central's promotional ads for TREK XI on Sunday(May 3rd), Simon Pegg showed some clips of himself as Scotty and you could see him in Enterprise engineering with steam-hissing conduits all about.

Those pictures aren't the greatest, but that's basically what it looks like. Of course, engineering doesn't have brick floors.

Someone earlier said it looks more industrial and gritty; it does look industrial, but doesn't look gritty at all. It looks like the freaking cleanest power plant ever, with futuristic computer stations everywhere.

But even that picture above is only a fraction of all of engineering, I mean it was really huge in the movie. It was several stories tall, had catwalks, and conduits and pipes everywhere. And interestingly, you don't see a warp core, which was kind of unfortunate, but oh well.

McCoy's 1701 sickbay in the new movie looks like a cross between a modern hospital facility and Phlox's sickbay from the 22nd century.

Sorry for the doubt Martin.

For the "most advanced ship in starfleet" a couple hundred years from now, this is MAJOR disappointment for me. :(

Maybe it's just the mechanical designer in me, but I seriously doubt a 23rd century spaceships' power plant will look like this (know just a little about spacecraft design ;)). There should be a central reactor of some sort.

Somehthing like this would have been more believable.

Something hotlinked, you mean? Come on, you've been here long enough to know that images posted inline should be hosted on webspace belonging to you. The second image was a bit large for inline posting, too, and would have been better put behind a thumbnail.

Jeez.....Sorry..............next time I'll just walk over to bldg 11 and take a picture myself.........wast just trying to make a point

i had a link posted in one of the other engineering threads that showed a close up of what you could see of the tos warp core.
it really looked to be a series of vertical and horizontal ,yes tubes.

see here and and here.

that one image of scotty in engineering i have seen could have been some type of junction area before it goes to main engineering room.

really for years fans have speculated about what most of engineering would have looked like since we only saw a small part of it.
