What about bloody engineering?

We haven't seen any pics yet of what engineering looks like on the new Enterprise, are we even going to SEE engineering? Has there been any leaked info as to what the matter/anti-matter reactor will look like? Are we going to see a setup similar to TOS or are we going to see the blue reactor ala TNG?

I havnt seen anything. Or heard about it. Apart frim the fact that it was apparently filmed on an existing industrial site.

Tthe closest we have at the moment is the transporter room image from Total Film.

Anyone else have anything that some of us may have missed?

Woooooah.

Very steam-punky and alcoholic looking.

Depending on how its redressed/CG edited, it could look The Mutts Nutts.

What THE Heck?!?!?!? :wtf:

Steampunk-prise much

I hope this is simply a misdirection from what it will really look like, cause otherwise :wtf: it makes no sense

I was thinking along the same lines.
However, several quotes (something about the harsh contrast between the bridge and engineering) in several different sources (please don't pin me down on which ones, but they included discriptions of this twenty-minute preview for a selected audience a while ago) seem to conform what you've just seen...

Here's a pre-production design drawing of the engine room... notice the old school radiation shielding covering the engineers down to their feet

Depending on how it's dressed up, it could look fine. For once it could be nice to see an engine room in the sense that it IS more industrial, and everything is enclosed in pipes and metal, and is not shown off by some big flashing LEDs.

Didn't someone who saw the preproduction stuff at one of the screening see a scene, maybe it's in the film, maybe not, or workers working near some sort of reactor like device, but instead of it being all bright and flashy like its other Trek counterparts, it resembled more like a nuclear reactor with heavy shielding around it.

I would love to see a more grittier engine room. Never believed in the center warp core flowing down or TOS' one.

Actually, that engine room is similar to BSG's engine room.

I dunno, it looks like a frakkin' brewery to me. It looks waaaaaaaaayy too big to fit into the secondary hull, at least to me.

Personally, I was expecting that scene from the TOS Blooper Reel, with the guy shoveling coal into the reactor.

Well of course the first image from the other site is not from the movie. It's from V, but the same area is being filmed for trek.

Maybe that area will just be shown as the deuterium storage tanks or something, like uh, below Engineering, hopefully that is all it is, some kind of storage tanks and not actually Engineering

I am pretty damn sure about one thing, whatever the tanks are, they are not gonna be explained about in the film, since the last thing this film needs is technobabble. They are just engineering pieces I figure.

Seeing those pics makes me a little nervous, I need to see what it looks like on film. However, a messier and more grittier engineering room would make sense.

Powered by Booze. Scotty likes this ship.

"I like this ship! It's intoxicating!"

It could be argued, for those that actually care, that these are the deuterium/anti-deuterium storage tanks (of which when you see cutaways, they are huge). I'm sure it'll be CGI-ed up to look all tech-y.

Do we really know we'll see much of the tanks? Maybe they just wanted to use the crosswalks and high ceilings and will CG the tanks away or into something else. Is it possible they could shoot the scenes in a way to not show the tanks in the first place?
