Definitely DIS. The execs at CBS may prefer DSC like they prefer "VGR" over VOY, but they don't run these internets---we do.
Noob here! I like the DSC, kinda rolls off the tongue like DS9 (hopefully that won't add to confusion). I would go with STD but, hey, this is a family show, right?! Anyway, the only other thing I can come up with is DISCO! Well, think of when that McQuarry (sp?) design was made?
I voted for DIS. The first three letters of the title just like VOY and ENT. STD also works, but it is kinda crude. Although Xbox One fans have certainly embraced the Xbone moniker, so who knows what term will get picked up by the fandom.
Space...the disco inferno. These are the voyages of the Mothership Connection Discovery. Its five-year boogie: To explore strange new dance floors. To seek out new mirrorballs and new polyester civilizations. To boldly groove where no one has grooved before!
"Sir, shall we deploy Da Bomb?" "Engage. And prepare the Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squadron."
DIS Exactly! Also TWOK, TUC, GEN, INS and NEM. (And I confess I also mentally pronounce TMP and TSFS as words) It feels more efficient that way, and the nonsense-word aspect of it makes it fun. DISC would be okay too, I guess. Though it would break with the tradition of the abbreviation being a nonsense word. Or how about ... DRY? Better than Star Trek It Burns When I Pee!, anyway.
Definitely DSC. Not STD, because aside from the crude acronym, we don't call Voyager STV. And not DIS, because all I can think of when seeing that acronym is Disney (big Disney fan here). And DSC and DIS are the 3-letter abbreviations used in TV listings for Discovery and Disney respectively.
