I love the drama of the season 1 cliffhanger but I agree that the concept is quite cliche and something I knew would have to be a plot at some point. The one thing that really gets to me though isI didn't like the season one cliffhanger. I suppose if you make a fictional story about the President, he'll have to deal with EVERYTHING that every president has ever dealt with, sort of like how a high school TV show will have a kid for every event possible.
But the poor setup of the whole thing made people who are there to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen look like a bunch of idiots more than anything else.

how absolutely stupid a plan it was for the bad guys to attempt to kill Charlie at the time when he's the most protected he could possibly be (with the president)! If they really wanted to pop him, why not do it as he's getting home from work? The answer of course is purely drama issues. But the whole plan is just so stupid and illogical when you think about it.
