West Wing Complete Boxset

I've watched the first 4 episodes, and so far and it's not grabbed me like Dexter where I ploughed through it in no time, but I am enjoying it.

^ I personally liked it from the beginning. Sure, it had problems but for some reason I still liked it.
I loved it, thought overall it was very enjoyable. I think I liked it more than 30 Rock.
You know, I really wanted to like 30 Rock. Both Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey are totally awesome, but the show just doesn't work for me for some reason. The fact that I can't stand Tracy Morgan might have something to do with it.

Me too! I can't stand him!

I love Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, from beginning to end. The only thing I don't like about it is Harriet.

That's my main complaint also, they should have waited a few months and got Laura Graham to play the part, she would have been perfect!

All this beign said there is a new Sports Night set out, if you haven't seen the show you need to buy it. It's a nice blend of sport jokes, seriousness, and personal lives in the office. Great show.

And West Wing isn't Dexter. Dexter tells one story in the first season's 13 episodes. West Wing builds up to things, and looking back at what happened seasons ago that you think might not be important will be huge later on. There are at least three things hinted in season one that will grow to be bigger storylines and how that is handled is what makes West Wing great. Wait until you get to the season one finale, you will be going "Where is my season 2 discs!?!?!", it's handled beautifully. Then the first part of the season 2 primeire is wonderful in action and emotion without having to go as low as "ER" "Lets have a tank blow up the ER" storylines.

That season 1 finale is just so intense. I've rewatched that ending so many times. In fact, so many of the season finales were incredible. The show has really made me a major fan of Martin Sheen.

The first one is the lead up to the season one shooting, you don't really see it until after the fact. Obviously the set up for season 2 and the MS, and then the president yelling at Zoey about her being kidnapped and him having to bomb everywhere to get her back

Yeah, those were three I thought of, too.

The ending of the Christmas episode in season 1 is such a wonderful sequence. I can remember watching it many times and getting shivers down my spine and a knot in my throat everytime.

So OP, what episode are you up to now? I desided to start rewatching and I'm up to episode 9.
I'm up to episode 11, the one where India's troops invade Pakistani Kashmir. Still enjoying the show, but still not drawn in to it so much that I can't stop watching.

I didn't like the season one cliffhanger. I suppose if you make a fictional story about the President, he'll have to deal with EVERYTHING that every president has ever dealt with, sort of like how a high school TV show will have a kid for every event possible.

But the poor setup of the whole thing made people who are there to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen look like a bunch of idiots more than anything else.

I thought it was realistic, and Barlett... spoilers... never almost died on a pretzel. :)

The season 6 starting arc I thought was a joke.

Middle East peace in what a week or two? Give me a break!

The show peaks in season 2 and 3, but 20 Hours in America I don't like at all, season 1 is a setup.

A little bit of a mis-characterization, no? A lot of what they accomplish in that episode finds its way undone, if I recall correctly.

I only own season one. I so want to collect the rest of the seasons though. Being from Washington DC and considering the very large part politics has played in my life, this series was always near and dear to me. If only the price would come down just a little bit.

I knew I'd kick myself months ago because of this, but there was a time that the seasons were all on sale for like $15 each, for like two weeks in a row. I didn't pick up any of them at the time (couldn't afford the extra expense) but now I wish I had. Oh well.

Yeah, it was a great idea and I liked the attention payed to the issues, but some of it felt really ridiculous. The one scene that really stands out in my mind as being extremely ludicrous was all the staff out playing basketball while discussing strategies for the negotiations.
