All this talk of an opening crawl or elaborate battle scene to establish the war is overdoing it. All we needed was Picard giving a brief history of the Dominion and the war against them in his "Captain's Log" narration at the beginning.

I would have been fine if there was no mention of the Dominion whatsoever in Insurrection or Nemesis had those films actually been good movies.
