Hey tomalak301, it's been a while since I browsed these pages, so I didn't realize you'd posted a reply. Seems you know what's going on. Just to leave a very slight spoiler out of sight, Spoiler:
I think Kaylee is only a little different, as she was always clawing after Simon, and she mentioned at least in "Heart of Gold" how she'd like a little sexual healing ;) I'd say River is the most different in that she's so good in kicking ass, though it's not much of a stretch. She displayed an uncanny aim in a gunshooting scene, but I don't remember her actually kicking ass
. I think the characters show more of the "darker" appeal that Joss Whedon said Fox wanted him to steer away from. But it's still hilarous fun to watch!

Other than Kaylee, once everyone got into thier roles after the first 20 minutes, I really didn't see much of a difference. Maybe the characters changed between the last episode I saw and the unaired episodes you talked about but what I really liked is that these characters were really close to thier portrayal to the series. Maybe Mal was a bit darker, but he has always been the "leader" willing to do what it takes to get paid. Spoiler:
If I remember correctly, River and Simon have always been an hinderence to that goal.

Welcome back Vash!! OK lounge, time to party!

Oops, I forget that some eps were unaired (ah, the joys of owning the DVDs ;)). There really isn't any change, even in the unaired eps. They just help flesh out characters like Joss had been doing anyway.

I definitely don't have a problem with Mal being portrayed a little daker. I think it adds some gravity to his character and how much he cares for his crew, like family. I pretty much agree with what you said in code, except that it wasn't necessarily a problem for Mal because of the kind of man he is.

Hmm, how to make this seem more like a DS9 thread than Serenity review... time for a raktijino :D

Peanut are my favorite.

But those ones look like they are plain.

Extremely talented, grant you. But plain.

Welcome back Vash. It's good to have you back. :)

Thanks!

We need to chat soon! I wanna find out what's going on with you these days!
Short version: not much really, work is keeping me reasonably busy. Otherwise same old. But I should be on MSN from time to time. :)

EDIT: hey, we're on the last page of the thread. :D

Paid $7.00 for a glass of coke the other day though. And it wasn't even a full can. :wtf:

Japan is *really* expensive.

:wtf: If I lived in Japan I'd have no problem staying healthy...

I took Japanese when I was in college and I plan on visiting there before the end of the decade. When going I'll make sure to bring enough Coke with me to last the trip.

"We choose to go to Japan before the end of the decade. We do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard."

Seriously, Japan sounds like a fun place to visit.

Speak of the devil...

My father's girlfriend's daughter's husband (everyone got that?) is in the airforce and he's been stationed to Japan where he'll spend the next three years so in order to visit him and his wife we'll have to go to Japan.

I was a Communication major in college and I'd taken up a minor in Asian Studies. I didn't finish the minor before I graduated but I'm still planning on finishing up the minor when I can afford to. One of the options, in place of a course, is to study abroad in Japan during a summer, and now I won't have to which is good because I didn't want to spend tution or rental fees, just the straight-up flight to-and-from which my father will probably help me out with.

EDIT: Hey, BigFoot's right, we have like less than 50 posts to go! It's been fun in here, though the bar has been hard to find sometimes. Will there be another??

Of course there will be another!

One of you guys has to volunteer to run it though. I'm not sure if I could convince SB to hang around with us for ANOTHER 1,000 posts!

You could run it again if you want - I'd like that. Or BigFoot or tomalak. Or if Lord Garth promises to stay and hang with us, he could run it.

It's up to you guys.

Otherwise, I'll get one of my crazy lounge buddies to come and run it...and you may not want that. But I'll do anything to get ymf77 to post in this damn forum! :p

The whole thing's kinda lost its shock value by now, anyway. :p :D Time for one of you "real" Niners to take over, methinks.

Awwww, this is the first thread I ever started that made it to a third page. Worth it for that alone. The fact I hardly posted in it must have helped. :p
