Welcome new Voyager fans!

I started watching Star Trek religiously in 1987 with TOS, and VOY had for a long time benn the one Star Trek series that disappointed me and that I didn't like.

But with decades of distance and experience with post-2017 "NuTrek", I have a milder view on VOY. It's still not among my favorite shows, but DSC has taken the spot of the Star Trek show I can't stand. And in comparison to the trainwreck of DSC, it's easy to see the virtues of VOY, imo.

Just recently, I started a rewatch of VOY, and I'm at the end of season 3 by now. I enjoy it more than before, and compared to TOS/TNG/DS9, which I've rewatched over and over again, it's a huge benefit that there are many VOY episodes I hardly remember and that appear almost new to me.

So... on my personal ranking of the 11 Star Trek shows, VOY still only takes spot #8 or #9, but I have to say, I really enjoy it now after all.

Just joined today

Huge fan of Kate Mulgrew and Voyager overall. Just started watching all the series as growing up only had time to catch the odd one here and there
Currently in Season 1 and already easy to see why I absolutely love Voyager.
Look forward to connecting!

Hi! I'm not exactly new to the site (been here for like 3/4 of a year now) but despite getting more and more into VOY as time goes on I never said anything in this thread, lmao. So I guess I'll do that (I probably seem really silly but I would put myself as a new VOY fan in the sense that I'm a new fan of Voyager and not in the sense that I'm a VOY fan that is new to the site).

I'm Karkat! :) I'm pretty sure I'm one of the youngest people that frequents this website. I really, REALLY like TNG, and TOS is good too, putting VOY at my third-favourite. I really like the characters on VOY and their dynamics. I still haven't watched a lot of VOY, but I've sort of jumped around and watched some random episodes lol and liked them. My favourite episode of the ones I've seen is Riddles! :D

Hello all,

This is not so much an introduction as reintroduction as I have been a member of the forum since the early 2000s, back when Voyager still aired and Enterprise was in pre production.

I have been absent for a while on the forums as I got into other interests and Star Trek had lost some of its appeal to me during Enterprise's original run (I would later come back on that after I watched season 4).

I was a fan of Voyager from the start, preferring it over Deep Space Nine back in the day (I should give it a rewatch now that I am older, maybe I will appreciate it more), but the show really took of for me with seasons 4 and 5 which I felt were Voyager's strongest seasons. 6 and 7 also have their gems but I felt Voyager was on its best then.

Recently I have been watching some of what I consider my personal favorite episodes of Voyager again which reminded me how much I was into the show back when it was still new. But I have to say that Voyager has not aged as well as I had hoped.
Oh when Voyager is good it is really good, but there are also plenty of episodes I would now skip on. Episodes I feel are too much filler and not add much.

But just because I am a bit more critical now of the show when it comes to its story telling it doesn't mean I no longer enjoy it anymore.
I really liked how Voyager would bring in new species such as the Hirogen which is probably one of my favorite Trek foes next to the Borg, I really wish they had been used more often.
Voyager also showed us how exotic the Delta Quadrant is compared to the Alpha and Beta Quadrant, doing things we wouldn't see on TNG and Deep Space Nine.
That I felt was one of Voyager's strengths.

There is not much that I can tell about the characters. To me they were functional though I felt some were better used than others. I don't have any personal favorite among them, but that is also how I feel about the other four series (I can't speak for the streaming shows as I don't watch those).
I like what others suggest when captain Janeway is compared to the other captains that she is considered the scientist.

As I rewatch more of Voyager I am looking forwards to talk with people here about Voyager in general.

I recently rewatched "Riddles", too, and was amazed by it! I had almost forgotten this episode after all these years.

It's interesting that you're young, yet you're into "old" Star Trek shows... I would have imagined the new streaming shows would be easier to access for young people.

I tried to get my daughters into Star Trek (they're 11 and 9), but so far, without much success ... except they both like Lower Decks. But that's the only Trek show they like so far, all others are "boring" in their opinion. :/ Hm, maybe they'll change their minds in a few years.

Anyway, really good to know there are young Star Trek fans, too! :)
