Hi everyone, I'm a fan of Voyager since it was first broadcast and was living at home so used to watch it with my mum. I bought all the seasons on VHS and then DVD and could lose myself watching them especially when I was alone and could binge watch seasons. This is when I had moved out of course. I felt part of the crew and instilled with a sense of trust. Like I belonged. It always left me feeling good about myself with a sense of optimism.

Fast forward 20 years and re-watching it I still get those feelings especially with my favourites. I'll not reel them off here just yet! *cough*Pathfinder/11:59/Thirty Days/Timeless/Night*cough*.

I also look forward to discussing what life was like on the set and the relationships between them now. I know that Kate Mulgrew has always been close to Ethan Phillips and it almost brought a tear to my eye a few days ago when I watched a reunion on youtube and Kate said just what she thought of Ethan and I knew it was coming. It sounds like he was always a comforting shoulder for Kate and indeed anyone else who spoke to him. Not unlike his character on the show who was always impartial and supportive. I hope they keep in touch with Jennifer Lien and hope she is doing well.

I could go on but an introduction is not the place so just wanted to say hello and I look forward to contributing on other threads. My Voyager collection has been in the cupboard for far too long and I've finally dusted off all seven seasons and am watching them at random. That was a few weeks ago and here I am. Despite my name I'm not malevolent in any way.

Hello everyone!

I’m new here. I’m a Star Trek fan since I started watching some TNG and TOS episodes every time I could when I was 13 or 14 years old. It was not that easy in the early 90s in Spain. These two are my favourite series and I’ve just rewatched them complete for the first time! Even though some episodes are just bad, most of them are enjoyable and some are truly amazing! What a pleasure it has been! Also rewatched all the classic movies and now I’m into Discovery, hoping 3rd season gets better than the others...

So, anyway, looking forward to getting to know the forum and enjoy!

Hello all!

I come to this forum hoping to make friends so feel free to reach out if you would like. My first series was TNG, which I watched as a toddler/small child and fell in love with so much. My grandfather loved all iterations of trek, and he was the one who made sure it was shared with me. I had seen all of TNG (and movies) by the time I was eight or so and then kind of moved on from it because I didn't know there was anything besides Original Series and TNG. Then, when I came to college and met my boyfriend, he shared VOY with me and I fell in love with that also. The most recent series we have finished together is DS9 - I want to say DS9 is my favorite of the three but it would be impossible to really pick. Trek is such an important part of my life because of how much the people close to me have cared about it and how much I have bonded with all of the characters across the 24th century world. My grandfather passed away due to COVID earlier this year and the last thing we talked about was Star Trek. I was on the phone telling him how much I was enjoying Voyager.

I haven't seen any of the newer Trek, but since hearing John DeLancie voiced a Q episode, I really want to watch Lower Decks. I'm interested in Discovery too but I think I'd want to watch Enterprise first since that is also a prequel series? I have seen a lot of Original Series but not really in order. Someday I definitely want to watch it end-to-end.

Not exactly Trek, but I also plan to pick up some of Armin Shimerman's fantasy novels soon and love to read. My hobbies include horror films (my top 3 are Jacob's Ladder, Eraserhead, and House of 1000 Corpses) and space operas (Firefly, Defiance), reading (I try to read as widely as possible but love horror literature), drawing, and the occasional video game. I don't actually game a lot, but enjoy Warframe on pc and Animal Crossing on my switch. I look forward to being a part of this forum and hope to meet many of you soon!

Hello @sabel, welcome aboard! You don't have to watch ENT to get what's happening in Discovery. I'd say TOS is more important in that regard, at least when it comes to Discovery's first two seasons. Also glad to hear that you enjoy TNG! ;)

Btw I'm a huge fan of Animal Crossing: New Horizons as well.

Welcome Sabel. I’ve always liked Jacob’s Ladder, if you’re meaning the one with Tim Robbins. It’s very disturbing.

@MrPicard
Thanks for the tip! Maybe now is a good time to start a proper rewatch of TOS and then dive into the newer series!

@Jellico

Yes! I wrote a paper on it in college, comparing Singer's search for peace in death to the redemption that Hazel Motes seeks in Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor. I think the thing that stuck with me most about the movie is the sense of emotional isolation and confusion compounding right up until the end of the film.

Hey all!!

I was introduced to Trek through my parents. They watched it first round in the 60s, and my brother and I watched it in 70s re-runs. I had the Star Trek trading cards, Meego toys, and attended a convention in 78 in Los Angeles.

I saw TMP in the theater, as well as every movie up through FC. I will admit, I was not fond of DS9 and didn't even bother with VOY or later. Nu Trek is not my bag either. I'm currently watching the TOS-R on Netflix.

Hello, everyone. Former "lurker" here. One of the reasons that I joined is because I knew that some of you would actually know who Richard Dix was...

More seriously, live in rural Pennsylvania (Amish Country). Science fiction is rather an outlier amongst my interests. My favourite historical period (I am a history teacher who works at a cyber school) is 1890-1935: love collecting 78rpm records, watching silent and early talking films, reading older literature, and collecting and wearing vintage men's clothing (1910's-early 1940's). Avid swing dancer here, as well. Honestly, so many past-oriented interests.

I've been watching TOS since I was about eight. First movie that I saw in a theatre was The Voyage Home. I was nine at the time. Also enjoy the TOS movies and some TNG. Haven't really branched out to the others, but have nothing against them, and probably will give them a try some day. I enjoy the depth to many of the discussions, even if I lack the expertise to engage to any appreciable extent. I'm the guy who will obsess as to why the battle damage on the Enterprise differs between Star Treks II and III, or what the difference is between shields, screens, and defense fields...but as to complex explanations...I'm content to read and learn.

Thanks.

Check, check and check. Yep, you'll fit in quite well on the site. Welcome aboard, @Ubiquitousclate. :techman:

Primarily a Table Top RPG gamer,
liked the old FASA system,
like the old series better.
Working on a campaign now,
hopefully will see life after pandemic.

I am an aging SF fan with too much time on his hands. I was born January 7, 1958 along with the space age. I saw every lift-off, major event, and splash-down of the first age of Space Exploration as it was happening. I know where I was when Kennedy was killed, and when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon. I hope in my heart to live long enough to remember where I was when man sets foot on Mars.

My hobbies include folk music, including that thing called Filk. I have played AD&D and D&D in some form since 1976 (no not one session), and I am crazy over the work of Anne McCaffery, Robert Heinlein, Isaac_Asimov, and Arthur C. Clarke, among other authors. I have also met two of the four, you guess which two. I am a lifetime Star Trek fan.

I love modeling. Star Ships are one of my favorite subject, but not the only one. Sadly health issues have kept me away from active modeling lately but I like to keep my hand in if you will. I want to get past this and back to the table.

My main scale is 1/2500, mainly for space issues. I am not wedded to that however. My last model was 1/1000. I have a couple of 1350 Enterprise models squirreled away.

Hello everyone. My very first post here. TOS>DS9>TNG>ENT Season 3 and 4> VOY

Isn't it weird how ENT only started in Season 3? I will kindly fight anyone to the death over my order of quality.

Nah, just kidding. Happy to be here.
