Wayne's World! (1992)

Sorry I'm late to this thread, I fell on my keys.

I can basically talk along with both Wayne's Worlds, I've seen them that many times. Truly, those movies are one of the pillars of civilization. It's really my kind of humor. The SNL skits were amazeballs too, anyone remember the one with Madonna? "Is that Prince?"

I'd love to see another movie but somehow I get the feeling it wouldn't be nearly as good.

And rest assured, I will not bow to any sponsor.

I love the first movie. The second is...okay, I guess.

One thing bothers me to this day: the Stairway to Heaven gag. In the original theatrical release, when Wayne tries out the Awesome Guitar and the salesclerk points out the "No Stairway to Heaven" sign, you can clearly hear that, yes, the opening bars to STH. However, the video release has something completely unrecognizable. It ruins the gag, all because Jimmy Page (once again) got a bug up his backside whenever somebody riffs on STH. They would have done better to edit the gag out entirely. :vulcan:

Other than that, a great movie.

As a senior in high school, I went to see this movie...

I was a senior in high school when it came out too.

Senior in high school too! How many class of 1992 people we got around here anyway?!

But yes, I still do the head bang whenever BR comes on the radio, to much groaning and rolling of eyes from my kids. :p

Also, that fall I was part of the Georgia Tech Marching Band, and we played BR as part of one of our shows. It was funny to look over to the student section at the right part and see them all head banging!

This scene never fails to delight:

True story, I did that gag during a wedding speech for one of my best friends. He's also a fan of WW so took it in good stride.

Ir all has to do with royalties and licensing rights. Damn shame that the joke is ruined

Always loved WW, although the sequel seemed forced to me. I think I still have my official WW hat buried in the closet somewhere next to my Visitor's cap from the original V series...

The DVD release restores the original riff.

Edited to add: Whoops, looks like I might be wrong. I can't find anything confirming that. I could have sworn I read it when I got the DVD, but it looks like I was mistaken.

I love both films and I agree the first one is one of the finest SNL films along with Blues Brothers and The Coneheads (shut up, I love that film).

This was my introduction to Rob Lowe and for many years (pretty much until The West Wing) I equated him with slimeball.
