Watchmen: The Official Film Companion

I read the end of the Hayter script and dear god, I hope they don't decide to go with that ending. It really would cheapen the end of the story. Not to mention that it would be totally out of character for Dan.
Forgive me for not reading the Hayter script, but What are you talking about? Do you mean where the producers changed the ending with the giant space squid?

I expect (and have already seen from the trailers) that Snyder will do what he did with 300 and have many film shots that line up almost exactly with the novel.

I hope they don't go with the ending that is a lot different from the novel, but it wouldn't surprise me.

They didn't handle the revelation of Laurie's paternity well. In fact it was an outright insult to the viewers intelligence. In the book Laurie figures it out for herself and we figure it out as she does. In the screenplay Jon tells her outright.

Hmmm. That's not good, but not too bad I suppose......you have to assume the average american needs to be spoon feed the answers so it's hard to fault movie makers to much there.
I can fault the movie makers:D the fact jon tells Laurie about her real father insted of her figuring it out on her own is sort of a slap in the face to those who have read the book! I mean it will be like Empire strikes back redux. ( jon ) Luarie..the comedian was....your FATHER( cue music ) ( Laurie ) NNNOOOOOOO!!!!! :guffaw:

No, that I'm fine with. The part I don't like is:

Dan killing Adrian by crashing the owlship into him.

Okay now IF that's TRUE that WOULD be a slap in the face  I just don't see Dan doing that. I am starting to understand why Alan Moore HATES hollyweird.

LOL, that's insane. I hope that's not true. :klingon:

I read a few months ago in the Entertainment Weekly that the ending was kept intact. That was an important factor. However, that issue was a few months old.

ooh, actual scenes from the movie-

Linky

And five of them too. Seen as we've only seen pictures and bits and pieces from the trailers it's nice to see some proper footage.

The "rooftop rescue" one looks super sweet

Because I want Alan Moore and all the fans out there that said it couldn't be done to eat crow.

That works for me.

It doesn't for me.

Seeing as how this film...indeed, this very concept...wouldn't even exist without Alan Moore to being with, it seems rather fucking strange that the ones most obsessed over it are the ones who are criticizing him most harshly.

People owe Moore more gratitude than they do Zack Snyder.

Hell yes. I'm not against trying to adapt it, but I have no desire to see Moore "eat crow". I find his attitude admirably strong. If I had written such an acclaimed work (or even anything at all) I couldn't possibly distance myself from such an adaption in the way he has.

That is NOT what happened in the script.

Adrian is killed by an "owlwing" which is like a batarang. Also stupid, but less so than hit by the Owlship.

Ok, fine, but it's a minor change. My problem is not the manner in which it happens but that it happens at all.
