Was there ever a sound track released for The Animated Series?

Just occurred to me that this release would have benefited with non-vocal versions of Uhura's songs from Charlie X and Conscience of the King. Guess I'll have to wait until the 60th.

That is assuming non vocal versions even exist. At this point, I doubt it. Besides, the songs from "Charlie X" just had the random strumming from Spock's lyre since the song was supposed to be a bit impromptu. For completeness sake, I get it, but it's pretty unlistenable. "Beyond Antares" was more melodic. There was a missing song from "The Way to Eden" which I presume has also not been found (some of Spock's tuning up is reused from "Charlie X"). From what I understand, there is nothing left to release. I'm pretty satisfied.

I don't care for vocal free versions of songs. The voice is another instrument. Would you want a violin free version of a song?

Well, it could be a matter of completism if the vocal-free instrumental track were actually used on its own in some episode. I have the impression the instrumental of "Charlie is My Darling" was used as underscoring in some other TOS episode, though I can't remember where. And lots of shows that have theme songs with lyrics incorporate the instrumental tracks of same into their episode scores, e.g. He-Man or Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

"Charlie Is My Darling" minus vocals is used in "The Way to Eden" during the Captain's Log after the opening credits. It's a shame that instrumental version wasn't included in the La La Land releases. (I enjoyed all the other music that La La Land did include in their releases, of course!)

Ah ha! I always wondered why that cue wasn't present on the soundtrack, and now you mention it, I can definitely hear it as, if I'm right, the final section of the song?

Guess you'd have to throw in instrumental versions of the songs that were in The Way to Eden as well. I really do like listening to that music. "It's real now!"

They only exist as mono mixes, with vocals and music.

By the way, I'm having a minor problem... When I put the CDs in my computer, Windows Media Player is unable to retrieve any disc or track information from them, just "Unknown album" and "Track 1, Track 2," etc. The info does show up in iTunes, but I don't generally use that. So what gives, and is there a way to fix it?

That's not a problem with the discs. Whatever service Windows uses to pull that info doesn't seem to have it.

So that information comes exclusively from online? It isn't encoded on the discs themselves? That's surprising. I knew there was some kind of online database that media players consulted, but I figured it was a backup or supplement to what was on the discs themselves.

I could swear I've already heard a vocal-free track of "Charlie is My Darling" somewhere.
I've actually had the same thought. I vaguely remember that too. Could it have been on Nichelle Nichols "Beyond Antares" album? I no longer have that so I can't check.

Ah now see, here we disagree. I don't much care for ENTERPRISE'S "Faith of the Heart" or TITANIC'S "My Heart Will Go On" but both soundtracks include instrumental versions of both as well as a Piano version of the TITANIC song, and in both cases I thought the vocal free versions were better.

No, Spocko answered this several posts above -- I was thinking of its use under the Act I credits of "The Way to Eden."
