Was there any talk of creating a spinoff based on the Chimera (S7 E14) episode??

EXACTLY !!! it would of been interesting to hear how Laas discovered how to create a form that is able to travel through space (Was it at Warp speed?), and see him teaching it to others metamorphs.

If it wasn't at warp speed, he'd still be travelling between the first two star systems he flew between :)

I don't know if the series would have legs. Laas seemed unlikeable and a little flat. It would require effort to flesh him out. And I don't know if Hertzler could have pulled it off. I'd have to rewatch the episode, but Martok wasn't my favorite Klingon. Then again, I don't much care for Klingons, so maybe that's on me.

His background though was interesting. We could explore his life/lives with previous aliens, the long road to becoming as adept a shapeshifter he's become, and all of his different abilities and stories about them...if he can exist as fire, could he have "talked" with a fire that was burning an alien barn about to collapse on a child? If fire itself a very alien kind of life-form?

What would the Dominion War look life from his perspective? Or the Link? Or other worlds in the Alpha and Gamma Quadrants? Maybe Laas could appear differently on every humanoid world he visited, sometimes exactly as Hertzler. A dalliance with a mortal, and caper against a government, conquest of a primitive people thinking him a god.

Next time on Staaaar Trek: Paradise Laas!
