Was Joseph Carey hitting on 7 of 9?

Guy Gardener you are so funny you always make laugh when i read your comments :D im cheered up now

I'm convinced that by the fourth or fifth season, Voyager's writing staff were under the mistaken impression that Lt. Carey had died at some point.

Carey appeared in several first-season episodes, but then was absent from the show for a long time.

He appeared in "Relativity" and "Fury," two time travel episodes that took us back to the early period of the show-- but only in scenes that took place in the past. I think the writers remembered that Carey was in a lot of first-season episodes, but they got him mixed up with some other early character who had been killed off-- maybe Hogan?

At some point the writers realized that Carey had actually never died, so he finally appeared in the present day in one episode late in the seventh season-- and was promptly killed.

Anyway, I figure that in "Relativity," since the writers had Carey mixed up with someone else, it's not surprising that they also forgot they had established that Carey had a wife and children at home.

Yea, Carey's Arc was definitely confusing. Here he was, in the first few episodes as Janeway's pick for Chief of Engineering, which was finally given to Be'Lanna, and he was her second, and then all of a sudden, we have the young Vulcan, Paris, Harry Kim, and Seven of Nine taking scenes that should've featured Carey.

Josh was in 7 episode total.

Only 4 episodes were in season one, but that's counting Caretaker as one episode.

That's hardly room for an arc.

I can't find the citation, but I'm pretty sure he was wandering around in the background as one of the nonaligned Ambassadors (uncredited extra) for dozens of episodes of Babylon 5 when he should have been sitting by the phone waiting for a call form Jeri Taylor.

Replicator rationing meant that they had to eat the food they grew in the cargo bay if they wanted to save up surplus rations for something else, or they've already run out for the month.

What replicator rationing? :rommie: Isn't rationing like the magic shuttles and never-depleting torpedoes? :) Re-checked that ep and you're right: it was the galley though still seems a bit small. I think Katie's gesticulating hands threw me.

As for Carey, is he the O'Brien-a-like? I thought the episode where he patched up with Torres was a bit meh. It was like no-one on Voyager ever harbored any grudges or resentments. I sure as hell would if an Academy dropout was promoted over me :) There's an old show I've never seen but heard of called 'The Love Boat' and Voyager sure feels like that at times :borg:

That would be Picard's Enterprise, Voyager makes me think of Operation Petticoat at times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5b2ZQ0-7tM

Maybe the actor was unavailable? Or maybe the producers just preferred not to hire any extra actors for that particular scene and just gave the extra line or two to the regular cast.

Besides, I like Vorik. :)

How could Voyager feel like an old show you never saw? :vulcan:

I remember The Love Boat, and Voyager was nothing like it. The closest The Love Boat ever got to Star Trek was they occasionally had guest cast in common, and an episode of Love Boat once mentioned Fantasy Island - the series starring Ricardo Montalban.

 I loved Operation Petticoat! Richard Gilliland was CUTE, and his character had a lot in common with Tom Paris - the "lovable con man who Gets Impossible Things Done" sort.

EDIT: I see you linked to the movie, not the TV series. It's the TV show I was referring to.

I really enjoy both, in the movie Nick Holden is played by Tony Curtis who, I think, would make an awesome Tom Paris, if I could recast the role with anyone.

They had a choice of what contract to give Josh. Did they offer him 5 out of 20 episodes from the get go? Or did they approach his agent 4 times telling him that he's tapped? the former would have saved voyager a lot of money, but without a retaining contract it's no wonder Josh wandered off since they were screwing him by not telling him before hand that they value him and need him.

IMDB says that he is always working, but they didn't seem to have any trouble acquiring him for fury, relativity and Friendship One.

Vorrik showed up in season 3, 5 an 7.

9 episodes.

nepotism just isn't what it used to be.

Have you ever seen a tv show after a Deluise gets a foothold into the story structure?

One of them hooked up with a Gilmore Girl and suddenly 8 more materialized for his bachelor party.

Peter was part of Stargate SG-1 behind the camera most of the way through, I believe, and two brothers and the father guest starred on some episodes, that, I believe are some of the fan favorites

I've now seen Carey's not so Triumphant return to Voyager, he got done almost as bad as Kes.

I saw Josh on Pretty Little Liars earlier today.

He had two episodes in season one as a cranky ploice detective trying push the girls under a bus.

His face looked like worn leather, just like maybe Chelsea handler 10 years ago.

IMBD says that he's 57.
