Was it the original 'Voyager' crew at the end?

I am still confused because when there were two crews from different dimensions I am pretty sure the original crew died and the alternate one lived. Thoughts?

I can't remember, but it was around that story where they were left stranded on the planet, and lost the ship... there was an alternate crew involved?

hmmm. there are several episodes:
Basics:
Crew is stranded on a planet and Kazon took the ship, but no alternate crew
Deadlock:
origin crew dies, alternate crew lives, but nobody is stranded on a planet
Demon:
alternate (duplicate) crew stays on planet, origin crew survives too. Nobody stranded, because even the alternate crew leaves planet.

In my opinion you mix a few episodes. The episode you mean is "Deadlock" from Season 2

Actually, in "Deadlock" it is impossible to tell which is the original and which is the alternate. In fact there is no such thing, because BOTH versions of the ship are duplicates.

It was just Harry Kim and Naomi Wildman who died and were replaced by duplicates in that episode.

Harry Kim and Naomi died at first place in the damaged Voyager. In this time where it was clear that damaged Voyager would survive and the healthy Voyager will be blown up, Harry from the not damaged ship took baby Naomi to replace themselfs on the other ship. All the other people (Tuvok, janeway, Paris, Chakotay, yes even Ayala etc.) got killed.
So it was not only Harry and Naomi which died.

I may be mixing them up. Voyager is the series I watched least recently, so my memory could be distorted, but yeah.... I do remember I got the impression that the original crew died, and always found it weird.

or do you mean TNG-Episode "Cause and Effect"? Here the crew dies several times...

Season 5:
"Timeless" - Voyager crahs on an ice-planet, complete crew except Harry and Chakotay dead. Time travel to avoid this
"Course: Oblivion" - the already mentioned dublicated crew from "Demon" is also on way to earth, they will not make it and die. In the last seconds they nearly become discovered from real Voyager.
"Relativity" - Voyager is attacked from a time-traveling maniac called Braxton and get destroyed several times. Got finally rescued by also a time-traveling Captain Janeway and Seven of Nine.

Here's a thought...which of the episodes post Demon are actual voyager and which not? Is there an alternate set of stories, contacts with alien races etc, that won't be remembered by the 'real' voyager crew but nonetheless happened. Could the Doctor at minimum have survived because he exists as software and is transferable?
We have already had one alternate Janeway live to present time, and another alternate crew member also in various media.

The only question I have in this matter is about Ensign Harper.
The duplicate of Harper gives birth to a baby just before the episode "Course: Oblivion" (stardate 52586). If you calculate back the stardate it gives you a possible time of 8-9 months. So the real Ensign Harper could have been pregnant herself when she was duplicated in "Demon". My question is now, if the real Voyager also got another new child...

On at least a couple of occasions, including the last episode, VOY writers killed off main characters to create dramatic tension. During the episodes, other characters traveled back in time to prevent these deaths. Is that what you were referring to?

No. I could have sworn I remembered that the original crew was dead, and an alternate crew is what lives on for the rest of the series.

Technically, nobody died in "Cause and Effect". They died once -- technically, then the explosion created a loop in time repeating the same timeline, not creating a new one and once they solve it, they all came out alive and nobody died. ;-)

The ship and crew were duplicated in such a way that both versions were equally real. One set died, and one lived (with Harry and Naomi switching ships to go to the ship where their other selves had died.
But the same crew was still at the end.

Voyager's continuity is so weird, especially after all the time travel episodes, I think we should just be glad that a version of the Voyager crew made it home!
