Was Burnham still alive at the beginning of TNG?

Yep. Some hair magically fixes the Klingorcs.

Nhan is wearing a skirt. All the female officers of TOS wore Miniskirts (from Corbimite Maneuver onwards), like 60s Gogo dancers.

Maybe that will be back in fashion in a few short years.
Ummmm...
Miniskirts have never gone OUT of fashion...

Others have noted that he died, alone, in an alternate timeline that he (in part) created.
Or Spock died happily in his sleep from, happily, from stresses of induced pon farr helping to rebuild his species with a 20something Vulcan named Trixy'pol who survived the Vulcan destruction while starring in a series of Ferengi holovids that would achieve fame much later.

His last words were "that was some agreeable shit, Trixy'pol. If I die, check out my clone. Well.. not my clone. It is complicated. Now get the double-dumbass out of here. I'm fucking old and sleepy."

It doesn't have to be sad.

Oh trust me, I know they're currently not out of fashion. I was referring to the chosen aesthetics of STD.
I'm not sure it's a miniskirt or even a skirt
And no not every woman wore one.

A few rare and early examples from the TOS eps before Gene insisted that all female Starfleet officers be required to wear mini-skirts.

Though, there was socio-political importance to the Mini-skirt in the 60s because of the sexual revolution, so it wasn't only just about parading hot women around for the sake of male gaze.

JJ manged to bring them back in Star Trek 09, in a way that worked;

But that's probably the last time we'll see the 60s-inspired Trek.

So like I said, not every woman.

I've never truly bought that idea. Especially given Gene's proclivities. One story has Gene telling the wardrobe people to make a skirt shorter and showing how short he wanted it while the actress was wearing it.

I believe that. It was noted that he didn't like the pant uniforms on women that were cast for the series, so he axed the pants early on... and made it all miniskirts as required uniform for the women. Very 60s move, but Miniskirts were insanely popular at that time.

Having lived through the 60's I, to quote Khan, "know something of those years". ;)
But do keep telling me about it.

the miniskirt is essentially a brief tunic. put that and some leggings on a late medieval male courtier and it wouldn't look all that out of place, with the right sort of hat, of course.

Why do you think there is going to be a time jump? Nothing in Calypso implies that
Zora has been waiting a thousand years for her crew to return. She's smart enough to know about human lifespans. She's waiting to receive them after they jump 1000+ years by some means.

Or she is a computer, and waits until the crew returns, as that's what she was told to do. That the return of said crew is impossible doesn't matter.
