Warpath Aftermath

Lots of people are complaining about the delays. But don't forget the oldest rule in show business (save "The show must go on"):

Always leave 'em wanting more.

True the show must go on. I'm not trying to complain. It's just I have been waiting for this new novel but I guess waiting longer doesn't hurt, since there is more TNG novels coming out and finally an Excelsior novel about the early days before Star Trek VI I take it. I wonder if any of the material from DC's comic when Sulu took command of the Excelsior will be mentioned.

I'm getting off topic here, anywho, I did fall back in love with DS9 when the relaunch books came back out. It was like the series was getting a fresh new look and start. To have some of the major characters continue on with their stories and to see the changes at DS9 and aboard the Defiant . It was actually nice to finally see the Defiant go down into the atmosphere of a planet but no landing.

Yes, but there is another aspect you should keep in mind: As people keep reminding us, only a small fraction of Star Trek book readers are following the news in websites like this one. I know that many NF fans are wondering what is going on and start thinking that there won`t be any more NF books – yes, also because in the past they came out at least once a year. The same is most probably going on with DS9 Relaunch.

I know, I am sounding like a broken record but not celebrating NF`s 10th anniversary, which is also the anniversary of the first book only Star Trek series is very disappointing. On top of that this is the first year without a new NF book.

Yeah, and even if Peter David's schedule was already to busy to write a new novel beside the MU short novel for this year, they could have had a second anthology, with some kind of artistic oversight by Peter and actually edited by KRAD.

It's the 10th anniversary of their very first ST book only series, but instead of celebrating it, Pocket Books even seems to ignore it. :cardie:

No it isn't, on two levels. 1) There was a new NF novel in Obsidian Alliances. 2) You've forgotten 2002, when there was no new NF material whatsoever. :)

I thought about that too, KRAD, but I don't really count that as a NF novel. The whole thing took place in an alternative universe that didn't touch the "real" one at all.

As for the DS9-R novels, I'm looking forward to the next one. It seems like it's taking a long time, but that's just anticipation, I guess.

No NF in 2002 (+5), no (branded as such) NF in 2007 (+10)... am I sensing a theme here?

I was thinking more in terms of S&S possibly not wanting to release two books in the same series too close together. :)

Huh? That happens all the time.

As for the NF thing... remember, it's only an anniversary in the Earth calendar. In the Xenexian calendar, who knows when the anniversary will come? :D

Perhaps my "killing momentum" remark was badly phrased.

I am a voracious reader and Treklit is not my only taste in books,so with such a gap between installments of the Trek series that I'm following,i find that before each new one ,I'm having to go back and reaquaint myself with previous books.
For example,I'm finding myself looking at DS9 threads here and asking myself "the ancients?who they again? " etc.

Dammit!Double Dammit!
See what I mean? Now I'm gonna have them coming out of the woodwork...
Flandry requesting immediate beamout now!

Actually, it was the only MU story to touch our universe. Remember, there was the part at the end where McHenry showed M'k'n'zy our universe's Mac on the Excaliber.
