Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

I'm not really sure why Mary would be so much older than both Billy and Freddy, but I guess it's possible.

The boys are 15, and she could easily play late teens, so it's not really that much older.
(and Mary is the oldest in the New52 version).

So is there an updated list of what is ACTUALLY going to be made in the next 4 years or so? (Would love the infographic)

DC Shake Up in the Works After ‘Justice League’ Stumbles (EXCLUSIVE)

Warner Bros. is planning a shakeup and restructuring of its DC films operation following the box office disappointment of “Justice League,” Variety has learned.

Jon Berg will be leaving his current job running the comic book’s film production division, according to several sources with knowledge of the studio’s plans. A search is underway for his replacement, these people say. Berg will instead become a production partner with Roy Lee, the producer of “The Lego Movie” and “It,” who has a deal on the lot.

These people also say that Emmerich is weighing the idea of further integrating DC’s film operations into the studio’s main movie arm. That would entail putting the divisions under the same roof rather than having DC remain in a separate building on the lot, sources say. Marvel, which is owned by Disney, does operate its comic book film division autonomously, but other studios, such as Fox and Sony, produce their superhero films under the studio’s banner.

The DC overhaul is expected to happen by January.

While Ben Affleck is expected to appear as Batman in a standalone Flash movie, it is highly unlikely he will don the cape and cowl in Matt Reeves’ planned standalone Batman movie. The director is said to want to cast the role with fresh talent, according to sources.
We knew this was coming! About freaking time!

Should have happened after Man of Steel to be honest.

WB just let Snyder double down with BvS, which is why we are in this mess right now with JL.

Yeah, this is the second time they've put someone knew in charge of the movies. I personally think JL was a good first step in a better direction, and would have liked to have seen what Berg and Johns could have done without Zack Snyder being involved. I believe Wonder Woman was the first movie they had a hand in and we saw how that worked out.

Right, just what I was thinking. This feels like a rash and ill-considered decision. They should at least gather more data points before jumping to conclusions -- see how Aquaman turns out, for one thing.

Rearranging the chairs. Tells you nothing about the quality of the product.

"Oh, anything would be an improvement!"

No, it would not. In with all the other verbiage about management shakeups the comparison is made that things will be organized less like Marvel and more like Fox.

Call me when they're ready to do something again with Superman or Green Lantern.

The perennial incompetence of these clowns is amazing. Time after time (Wonder Woman being the lone exception), they manage to fuck up the unfuckuppable, then run around in a panic and somehow come up with even worse decisions in response to their last round of ineptitude.

Marvel has gotten real good at sausage making, but the best shot at making outstanding movies is to let the damned creative people make movies that express their POV. That's how they got the Nolan Batman movies and Wonder Woman. That's really how Marvel got launched with Iron Man.

^ Well, that and picking the right damned creative people. The DCEU's approach so far is to not do that 80 percent of the time, and then to attempt 40 percent of the time to correct their initial error midstream in a way that arguably makes things even worse.

On the one hand, I thought JL was ok. On the other hand, without the Snyder influence it would have been so much better. So, getting rid of the people who kept bringing Snyder back for really just explainable reasons after BvS happened is probably going to be a real step in the right direction.

I enjoyed much of JL too, and in fact, I don't categorically hate any of the DCEU films. There are things I like in even the worst of them. But all of them except WW are decidedly mixed bags at best, when there's no good reason they couldn't all be on that level if WB would just (a) pick the right director and (b) get the hell out of the way more than one time out of five.

I'm pretty sure Berg and Johns were put in charge long after Snyder was signed on for JL.

I haven't seen JL yet, but the impression I've had all along was that its weaknesses came from Snyder and its positives came from the attempts of others like Berg, Johns, and Whedon to mitigate the damage Snyder did -- or that the WB execs did by entrusting Snyder with a third DC movie. So while the execs' reported decision not to give Snyder a fourth DC movie seems wise, their decision to sideline Berg and Johns seems hasty and arbitrary.

Although it just occurred to me that a lot of the things that seem like stupid and panicky decisions by studio executives might actually be moves that executives are forced to make to appease stupid and panicky investors/shareholders who don't care about any of the creative or production logic and see only that they're losing money.

Here is a crazy idea - Do not announce release dates for films until they are ready to go into production. Creating these long term release schedules has not helped them at all! It has them more concerned about reaching a deadline than creating good stories. If no one wants to direct your Flashpoint idea Geoff Johns maybe that should tell you it's not good! Do not retry Green Lantern until a good idea comes along. If that means we get B or C list characters first because a director is inspired to want to use them, that is great! Better than try to rush through a checklist of "Bigger names" that are mostly only known to comic book fans.

^ Johns and Snyder aren't going anywhere, at least for now.

Technically, no, but their roles are shifting. As the Variety article reported:

Going forward, [Johns's] work on the films may evolve, and could be more advisory in nature.
...
There are no immediate plans for Snyder to direct another DC movie, though he is producing or executive producing several, including “Wonder Woman 2” and “Aquaman.” Warner Bros. continues to have a production deal with Snyder, so it’s possible he could direct additional films for the studio.
