Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

I really know enough about anything related to this to make any kind of assumptions as this point.
I don't know if it makes a difference for anyone, but Annabelle: Creation actually seems to be getting pretty good reviews so far, so it sounds like the guy is at least a decent director.

:cardie: I thought that he was the first person cast?

He was cast to play Black Adam in a movie in the DCEU, but it wasn't confirmed that it would be the Shazam movie; that was just the conclusion people jumped to. I think there were some suggestions that it might be a Black Adam solo movie or that he might debut in one of the Justice League movies. Besides, he was cast nearly 2 years ago. Movie plans can change enormously in that time, and so can actors' availability.

I knew about the Black Adam solo movie, but I had been assuming he would be in both movies. I wonder if they're saving their first encounter for a second/third movie or if they're just not connecting them to each other.

I wonder if he will be in Justice league 2? Black Adam seems like he could be there DC F U version of Loki.

Thing is, the Rock is near 50, and could be president in 2020 (I hope ;) ), so they need to use him ASAP.

I wish Geoff Johns was put in charge earlier. The movies don't have to be so tied as Marvel's are, but they COULD have a more coherent plan

Disney - Lets try to craft a Marvel Cinematic universe bit by bit.

WB - Greenlight EVERYTHING!!!! in whatever order.

Marvel Studios has had a whole long-term master plan almost from the start. That's how they were able to coordinate their third through fifth movies so closely. They have things planned out years in advance. It's not so different from what DC/Warner is doing.

These 8 movies had their logos shown at the WB presentation at SDCC: Shazam, Suicide Squad 2, The Batman, Justice League Dark, FlashPoint, Wonder Woman 2, Green Lantern Corps and Batgirl.

The biggest news there is that The Flash movie is going to be Flashpoint, kind of an odd choice for the very first Flash movie...

I'm guessing it will resemble the comic story about as much as Age of Ultron resembled the comic of the same name. At least I hope so, since I don't think seeing Flash in an alternate universe won't be that effective if we aren't familiar with his life in the normal universe (and Justice League almost certainly can't give us enough of The Flash to set up his status quo).

On the other hand, maybe DC things they can sell tickets by having Gal Gadot and Jason Mamoa as evil versions of their characters while brining back the guy who played the comedian to play Flashpoint Batman (since he also played Thomas Wayne in the short flashback in BvS). As a fan of Gadot's WW, I sure as hell don't want to see Gadot playing the Flashpoint WW, who was a complete nut and a pretty nasty villain. But, I can almost see DC treating the story as their version of "Civil War", aka being a "solo" hero movie with appearances by a bunch of other heroes in the universe.

That was my first thought. However, isn't BvS kind of an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns ? TDKR also functions like a "closer" for Batman as a character, yet it was loosely used to introduce him to the DCEU. Maybe that's a DCEU thing... Doing Storylines in reverse.

I think it's very unlikely they will use Flashpoint to retcon stuff. It's too early for that.

I wonder if Flashpoint is supposed to be Justice League 2. Wasn't that supposed to film after the first? Or am I mixing it up with another movie?

Kinda odd that there wasn't one for Aquaman...but I guess they didn't do it for movies in actual production?

Hey wait...no Cyborg either?

I hope so too. And it probably will be a more Flash focused story than the original comic. Ezra Miller looks great in the Justice League, and he is definitely going to get a lot of people interested in The Flash movie(along with all those who are already interested in it because of the show), it wouldn't really make sense to make his first solo outing be overcrowded with a large ensemble cast...

Kinda odd that there wasn't one for Aquaman...

There was a short clip from Aquaman.
