Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

I just finished reading the Throne of Atlantis story and it was awesome. It made Aquaman pretty cool in my eyes.

Aquaman 2 could be the "Civil War" of the DCEU franchise by using the Throne of Atlantis storyline, serving as sequels to both Aquaman and JL. Just leave the heavy hitter Superman out of it to save some money like how Civil War left out Hulk and Thor.

The main JL movies can continue to be about the New Gods or whatever.

I loved how Captain America 3 ended being a sequel to his own two films and a stealth Avengers sequel.

I think the Throne of Atlantis storyline just wouldn't work without the Justice League.

If it's just Orm vs Aquaman it's going to end up being like the first Thor movie with brother vs brother.

Also Orm needs to scream "That CONVICT (Mera) can't hold the water up forever!" Freaking hilarious.

I heard the Throne of Atlantis animated movie sucked, which is a shame.

I thought it was okay, certainly in comparison to what preceded it, although it did have a couple of huge plot holes:

I'm going to read that after reading your Wonder Woman movie review.

Did you ever finish watching the Lyndia Carter Wonder Woman series by the way? I was following your reviews in the MeTV topic and kind of lost track where you were at. What did you think of it?

My reviews of the whole series should be in that thread somewhere. I thought the first season was okay -- a bit cheesy, but surprisingly authentic for a '70s comics adaptation. But the latter two seasons were an inferior imitation of The Bionic Woman and made Diana a much more acerbic and unappealing character. It was a slog to get through it.

That's about what I'd expect from a DC movie concept artist, except its too colorful :shifty:

Stop with the overexaggerated and tired toadstool of the DCEU being devoid of color. It wasn't amusing the first time somebody trotted it out, and it's gotten less so as time has gone on.

It's also totally false.

Nope.

Just because the DCEU isn't bright, flashy, and in-your-face doesn't make its color palette "watered down".
Speaking as a photographer, working with both film and digital, I know what true colors are suppose to look like. What we see in Zack Snyder's films are watered down and it has nothing to do with his films not being "bright, flashy and in-your-face."

The problem is, The Matrix used digital color correction to make the Matrix scenes look washed out and greenish as a subtle hint that they weren't real, and a bunch of other filmmakers thought "That looks cool" and started copying it without considering that it had been done for a specific story reason, not just for the hell of it.

The future of the DCEU is starting to look a lot more Whedon-y.

A few highlights...

For its part, Warners strongly denied the notion that the Snyders would no longer be actively involved in creative decision-making. Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. Pictures Group president and chief content officer, said in a statement that the Snyders would maintain a role.

At the forefront of that effort is Geoff Johns, who swiftly ascended from the comic-book world to become president and chief creative officer at Warners' DC division last year, reporting to Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment. His close creative partner and secret weapon will be Joss Whedon,

Whedon also has Batgirl on the DC slate, which is expected to proceed on schedule. But Whedon — who never quite got the credit he deserved as a key architect of Marvel's cinematic universe alongside Kevin Feige after Avengers: Age of Ultron — will be a major part of WB's creative team in the future.

That's good news. Hopefully the Snyder's will mostly just be the kind of people who get producers credit on everything without doing much (like Avi Arad and Stan Lee getting "producer" credits on a bunch of Marvel movies) and we get a lot of Johns and Whedon's influence. Hopefully they can take their ideas and continue the wave of goodwill from Wonder Woman by righting the DCEU ship and putting out more great stuff.
